I worked at St. Joseph's Hospital full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The new CEO is great. He came in to clean up after the previous CEO! He is VERY hands on with the employees. I have met him more than 5 times and I had NEVER met the previous CEO because he did not reach out to employees (if he did it was RARELY). The benefits and pay are very competitive!

    Cons

Like most hospitals they are been subject to budget cuts and layoffs. 4 over the past 6 years. Unless you are a nurse it is hard to grow within the hospital.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management works hand in hand with the CEO and it trickles down making the employees voice heard.

I worked at St. Joseph's Hospital full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Coworkers are friendly and hard working. Salary and benefits average, nothing special.

    Cons

Upper management focused more on their quarterly bonus then their employees and patients. I had one manager tell me no one in my department liked me, for days I stressed over it until I spoke to another employee with the same manager; she was told the same thing. I transferred out of the department the other employee resigned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

teach your management professionalism and please focus on patient care not how to save $1.00.

    Pros

Good benefits such as health insurance and pto. Retirement is vanilla 401k

    Cons

I worked there in the clinical informatics department. This department was responsible for supporting the electronic medical record (emr). No one wantes to share knowlege because they fear losing their jobs. Management gets vindictive. No room to advance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No worth the time; poor management through out hospital and perhaps the health system.

I have been working at St. Joseph's Hospital full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Just about everyone is very close and act like a giant family. You get to meet tons of interesting people from all over.

    Cons

There are some nurses that believe they are better than everyone else and are very rude to everyone. Its hard to get time off in my department. On top of that they love to play the favorites game and give there "buddies" special treatment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

try to reward the hard working people and crack down on the slackers
