  1. I worked at St. Joseph's Hospital

    Pros

The leadership proved to be a well of information and guidance.

    Cons

As I reflect back there really were no cons concerning the all around institutional training environment that the hospital provided.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to keep up the great work as professional care-givers in every area and professional positions that has made St. Joseph's hospital a four star healthcare provider.

I worked at St. Joseph's Hospital part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The insurance benefits were great, and the work out room was nice. The physicians were wonderful and were willing to teach or lend a hand when needed.

    Cons

I did not feel like I was a part of a team. Individuals that blatantly did not do their job were rewarded. Nurses were hateful to each other. The manager of the dept fed the negativity and started a lot of the animosity issues herself.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All management need to be trained in servant leadership and this needs to be the expected attitude and culture.

I worked at St. Joseph's Hospital full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The new CEO is great. He came in to clean up after the previous CEO! He is VERY hands on with the employees. I have met him more than 5 times and I had NEVER met the previous CEO because he did not reach out to employees (if he did it was RARELY). The benefits and pay are very competitive!

    Cons

Like most hospitals they are been subject to budget cuts and layoffs. 4 over the past 6 years. Unless you are a nurse it is hard to grow within the hospital.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management works hand in hand with the CEO and it trickles down making the employees voice heard.

I worked at St. Joseph's Hospital full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are friendly and hard working. Salary and benefits average, nothing special.

    Cons

Upper management focused more on their quarterly bonus then their employees and patients. I had one manager tell me no one in my department liked me, for days I stressed over it until I spoke to another employee with the same manager; she was told the same thing. I transferred out of the department the other employee resigned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

teach your management professionalism and please focus on patient care not how to save $1.00.

    Cons

Average pay, difficult patient population due to location of hospital.

I worked at St. Joseph's Hospital full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits such as health insurance and pto. Retirement is vanilla 401k

    Cons

I worked there in the clinical informatics department. This department was responsible for supporting the electronic medical record (emr). No one wantes to share knowlege because they fear losing their jobs. Management gets vindictive. No room to advance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No worth the time; poor management through out hospital and perhaps the health system.
