I worked at St. Joseph's Hospital part-time for more than 3 years
Pros – great community, great bosses, flexible with schedule, understanding, getting to know your residents and their families makes the job fun
Cons – drama with other co-workers, short handed all the time so you have more residents to care for which ends up putting stress on your body.
Advice to Senior Management – I know its hard to find quality employees but you really need to find some good ones.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at St. Joseph's Hospital
Pros – There are people there who really care about the well-being of the patients and are willing to take the extra step to help
Cons – Those in management get there not by ability, but by promotion. Alot is to be desired with communication within the department and addressing issues accordingly.
Advice to Senior Management – Address department issues as soon as they arise and do not let them continue to escalate. Do not be intimidated by employees who threaten to report you to HR. Do not allow constant insubordination by employees--does not create a good image for management.

I have been working at St. Joseph's Hospital
Pros – Most floors are very "team-work" oriented. The employees who one could work with are pretty on top of things. One gets Paid Time Off hours for each shift one works, which builds up pretty nicely. There is supposed to be a fairly simple system in which one can transfer to a different floor/duty in the hospital. One can choose a flexible schedule which is usually taken into consideration.
Cons – As with any hospital, shift work isn't always nice. There are a couple of floors where the management doesn't walk their talk. Must schedule one's six week schedule 12 weeks ahead of time, which can make planning things difficult. Most jobs here are physically strenuous. I know my back has taken a toll from this job.
Advice to Senior Management – My advice to management is to actually find out the real problems, and don't pretend that they don't exist. Acknowledge the problems (such as staffing) and deal with them. I know on one floor, several people have left because the staffing problems went untamed, which, of course, causes further problems.

I have been working at St. Joseph's Hospital
Pros – Working at St. Joseph's Hospital is rewarding in so many ways. The experienced gained by working in a trauma center ER is incredible. The teamwork between nurses make it an excellent work environment.
Cons – There are not many, if any, downsides to working at St. Joseph's Hospital. Although I do believe that the RN pay for an experienced ER nurse could be slightly higher.
Advice to Senior Management – I believe that the leadership should raise the nurse pay for cost of living increases. a a a a a

I worked at St. Joseph's Hospital
Pros – Location, name, pay (if you're a skilled negotiator)
Cons – Your input is not valued, expected to work long hours, no training is offered for specialized tasks, environment is not friendly, "ivory tower management", department heads can be ruthless but have well deserved reputations with recruiters so candidates are well advised to stay away.
Advice to Senior Management – Resign. There needs to be better, more compassionate leadership at a hospital that was formerly known as one of the bastions of cardiac care in the Atlanta area.

I worked at St. Joseph's Hospital
Pros – In this economy having a job at all is a plus.
Cons – The way a hospital is managed to make money and useless but costly procedures being ordered for patients.
Advice to Senior Management – Talk to employees who have hands on contact with patients and equipment. The employees are the only ones who knows what works or could be changed for better patient care.
