    Pros

The caring for the patients and the friends I have made throughout the years that have been there for me and my family all these years. The learning curve I have had from Food Service to Operating Room Services to the Engineering Department. The perks is the learning curve and the education and life lessons. The values is what has kept me there faith family and caring for those in need.

    Cons

For me the cons are not taking advantage of the training and school advancement throughout the early years. Which may have given me opportunities that I regret now.

    Advice to Management

What advancement I have had in some roles were a Lead Position in the Operating Room at Times and a 2 year Interim position in the Engineering Department.

    Pros

Health insurance, paid sick leave, decent vacation time, flexible hours

    Cons

Favoritism in upper management, low pay, wasteful, no support for members who wish to move through the company, constantly changing shifts with no notice.

    Advice to Management

Quit being so blind to what is happening with your teams. Get in with the bottom level employees to see what actually goes on.

    Pros

Decent place to work and a great place to have your health needs. Great insurance provided.

    Cons

Vacation is minimal and they combine vacation and sick time in one bank. Benefits are rather expensive. I pay for a family over $200 a payday ($400 a month).

Dedicated home care, hospice and hospital staff, volunteers

    Cons

Too much red tape, under staffing

    Advice to Management

Put more emphasis on health care and supporting your staff vs making business/profit side the priority

I have been working at St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center

    Pros

There are some excellent people on board. Innovative ideas.

    Cons

The hospital is controlled by headquarters in St. Louis. Their eye is on the bottom line, not the patient. Sr. management is not staff friendly. They are too removed from people who lay hands on patients.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your board and have them hire a CEO who is not running the facility into the ground. Listen to front line employees who know how to fix problems. Management is way too top heavy.
