    Pros

I worked at St. Julien Hotel & Spa part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good flow of clients when the rest of Boulder is slow. Gives the young therapist a great opportunity to get lots of people under their hands as a stepping stone to starting a private practice.

    Cons

Like any professional massage scene there's a risk of being overworked and burning out, but I don't recommend it at a long-term position anyway. Do 2-3 years and then strike out on your own.

I have been working at St. Julien Hotel & Spa part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, drive very nice cars, the work is pretty easy and all the employees that work there are great

    Cons

You are standing all day long so sometimes your feet and back hurt and when it is really cold outside you still have to go out there so dress warm!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put heaters outside so the ice melts

I worked at St. Julien Hotel & Spa full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It's the only "somewhat" upscale Hotel & Spa in Boulder.

    Cons

Favoritism and rules not applying to everyone is abundant. This hotel has lots of potential that I'm certain it will never live up to due its amateur management team. Having worked for one of the most prestigious hotels in the world prior to my tenure with the St. Julien, it was extremely difficult for me to take this place seriously. Not sure if things will ever change, and unfortunately due to it being located in Boulder, it is impossible to bring in a reputable hotel with a long track record of excellence to provide competition. That is the only thing The St. Julien has going for them, and the main reason why they will never strive for anything above the minimum.

I'd like to note that there are some quality individuals who work here. Sadly these individuals are usually not appreciated by management because management is too busy getting their ego's stroked by their clique of favorites, who also tend to be the biggest slackers and drama fiends.

    Pros

Everyone is super friendly! The hotel is very eco conscious. It was a great place to have to go everyday for work . Very beautiful property.

    Cons

Heavy lifting and wearing a monkey suit in the hot sun

Dead end if you are looking for growth within the company, but pretty cushy if you can land an upper management gig.

I worked at St. Julien Hotel & Spa full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

This is a high end property with tremendous guest service. If you are entry-level, looking to break into the lodging industry, this is a fine place to land. Or if you are lucky enough to live in Boulder and can afford to do without much of an income, you can't really go wrong.

    Cons

As an independent hotel, there is virtually nowhere to go but sideways, unless you are fortunate enough for someone to quit or retire. New ideas are stifled/unneeded, primarily because the property exists in a silo, with zero competition within 25 miles.

I have been working at St. Julien Hotel & Spa full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I am absolutely proud to say I work at the St. Julien. I think they treat their associates like family. They offer an incredible benefits package to FT associates and they have a cafeteria for break times that saves me a load of expense. It is a LOCALLY Owned business and the Spa, the department I work at as a Massage Therapist, is managed by a brilliant, creative, and communicative team.

    Cons

Hmmmm, it's hard to think of a con. I suppose one con is that we are not allowed to spend time at the bar or restaurant or patio AFTER HRS unless we get permission ahead of time.
