    Pros

    Decent benefits and time off.

    Cons

Very top heavy organization. Multiple layers of management to go through to get anything done. Very cumbersome-similar to working for the government without the government benefits.

Become horizontally integrated and get rid of the multiple layers of management.

I worked at St. Luke's Health System full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

St. Luke's invests in physician leadership - this is critical to driving high quality patient care outcomes and building a strong foundation for the future. Their vision and mission are clear and concise and they have taken bold steps to lead the way in transforming the healthcare industry. I consider my time at St. Luke's one of the best experiences I have had during my career and grateful to have been part of such a great organization.

    Cons

St. Luke's is undergoing massive amounts of change at a rapid pace lending itself to an environment of constant urgency and chaos, and where innovation takes a back seat. The changes they are undergoing are absolutely necessary to their future viability and relevance. But during my time there for almost 15 years (non-clinical management), there was a persistent state of being overworked, underpaid, and undervalued. Prospective employees should seriously consider their own capacity to absorb change.

I have been working at St. Luke's Health System full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is decent and always on time. It is a positive environment and upper management is always willing to help out with issues.

    Cons

Being in the health care sector there is always the chance of infectious diseases raging through the hospital, and thus raising the likely hood of an encounter with death.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Corporations always become a machine, and a machine is never human orientated. Free government money will one day stop coming in and then where will we be? The Government Hospital complex is going to create a conglomeration that is neither congenial, nor beneficial.
