I worked at St. Vincent's HealthCare full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The ideas presented as the role of St Vincent's is wonderful. The PCTs were the BEST! Benefit package was reasonable. Telemetry techs were awesome.

    Cons

Backstabbing. No honest or clear directions from NMs. Equipment that is falling apart, not enough IV poles with pumps that work, No functioning manual BP cuffs on the floor. Placing ICU overflow on a MED/SURG TELE floor while that RN has 6 or 7 other patients! NO ACLS certified RNs on a CHF floor! (Because St V's won't pay for it!!!) Low pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

RNs need support. You claim that you support them then fail to do so. RNs on a CHF/TELE floor need to be ACLS certified. Increase pay to market. Other hospitals in the area pay bottom level RNs @ $2 - 3 per hour more.

I have been working at St. Vincent's HealthCare full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay is decent and the shift diff is one of the best in the city.
Benefits are at least as good as any other hospital in the city.

    Cons

Core Values are not lived up to.
Understaffed regardless of consistently running UNDER budget.
Management does NOT stick up for team members.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't micromanage those who are doing well. Be consistent in reasoning for rewards / consequences. Lobby for more hours within departments when it is reasonable.

I worked at St. Vincent's HealthCare

    Pros

    People cared and understanded you
you can see that people care about what they are doing
and not over staffed you with so many patients

    Cons

the over stocked you with patients, two ACP on the floor for all the patients and
yes if you got luck, you did get help from a good nurse that dont mind helping
out and geting hands dirty, but most of all to many patients and not enough
    pay.
