I have been working at Staker & Parson Companies full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work environment, understanding and very supportive of family obligations, a very supportive group of people to work with, great benefits and other perks, it really is just a great company to work for!

    Cons

Many of the positions are temp to hire, so benefits and full income are often placed on hold until the full time company position is made available.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Many employees remain faithful for far too long in a temporary position, while the company and those with the authority to promote the position to non-temp status take their sweet time fulfilling what was promised.

    Pros

Forward thinking company that cares about safety. Good employee benefit programs that may take awhile to obtain as a new employee. If you are willing to work the overtime then there is usually enough work to make a fair amount of money. Leadership is usually fair and professional.

    Cons

The bro network is alive and well. Seems like most people that work here are a friend or relative of one boss or another. They sell their products at a premium whether they should or shouldn't.

    Pros

Great company with a focus on rewarding those who preform well.
Quarterly safety incentives, annual bonuses, typically annual raises.

    Cons

Seasonal unemployment affects many employees, but that's to be expected in the industry.

    Pros

None to speak of worst job ever in 20 + years in the business

    Cons

No team players, horrible management, low wages and even lower annual raises if any at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize when you have good employees, let them do what your paying them to do. They will take care of you.

I worked at Staker & Parson Companies

    Pros

Large company with good benefits and pay. Drivers had their own union ( in company) and we had some input there even as a new guy. Very independent job.

    Cons

When it came down to it union had no real power. Company is owned by Oldcastle, one of the largest construction co. in the world, sometimes it had that corporate feel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the drivers, they're the ones interacting with the clients everyday. Management needs to word all the way down the ladder more effectively.
