    A Great Place to Work

    Pros

Company culture: I would say relaxed in the sense that you can wear what you want, and you come into work with very friendly people. It's not unusual to see the CEO in the kitchen and to actually talk with him. There is minor bureaucracy with getting things approved, but it isn't so much so that nothing ever gets completed in a timely manner. The company makes careful and thoughtful decisions. Everyone is friendly and willing to help. There is definitely a team environment.

Benefits: Great healthcare coverage. You get 3 weeks of vacation starting... :)

Individual Growth: The company hires a lot from within, which is excellent. Upper management has employees who started at very entry level positions. You can grow in the company if you want to.

Food: There are free snacks in the main floor kitchen (each floor has a kitchen, but only the main floor has food). From fresh fruit to cereal, goldfish, mixed nuts, energy bars, sodas, juices, milk, almond milk, chips, and other snack items, you won't go hungry if you need a quick pick me up.

Perks: The company has a ton of nice perks. The LA Metro line is near by and great if you want to take the train to work and then walk 10 minutes to the office. Access to a variety of discounts via their membership with discount sites. HR does a lot to try and bring events and activities to the employees and is very knowledgeable of all employee related benefits. There is also an employee grassroots initiative to start up employee run events, such as making lunches for the homeless (which we do once a month)

Brand new building: The building is gorgeous and new. Lots of natural light, an outdoor deck and a small gym.

    Cons

Depending on your department, your opinion of the team environment may not be so great. Some departments are happier with how they are run than others.

A lot of policy changes need approval of upper level management, and sometimes that shouldn't be required. There are some things upper management should let go of and entrust to its employees to get done correctly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great job! The company is doing great and you're making decisions to benefit its growth in the long term.

Surprisingly, I've been here much longer than anticipated

    Pros

One thing specifically missing in Stamps.com that I've experienced in most companies is the lack of politics and infighting. Maybe because the company is rather flat and everyone rolls up their sleeves to get work done, and of course top-down culture influence, but everyone seems to get along quite well and you don't have overt jerks mucking up the works.

    Cons

The company can be a tad slow on updating to the newest technologies, choosing the stable, safer path at the cost of having faster, better or updated operations. It's understandable but I'd rather have more up to date systems to work with, which will free up time to do more

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Overall they're doing a great job, I would say be more aggressive with staying up to date with operations and technology resources -- this will improve work flow and therefore morale and productivity.

    Pros

    - Excellent benefits/PTO.
    - Relaxed and friendly corporate culture.
    - Lots of events are held for employees with free food and drinks.
    - Stock options help boost salary
    - Hires talent from within, lots of internal promotions

    Cons

    - Sometimes slow to change
    - For a technology company, some systems/processes are extremely outdated
    - Not enough QA testing of their software
    - Communication between departments is improving, but still not ideal. Customer Care is often left in the dark, whether intentional or not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust your low level employees and remove the filter on the Internet, there are other ways to maintain PCI compliance.

    Pros

Perhaps you get a free stamp or two. The real worker bees are nice.

    Cons

Terrible management. Executive management needs to take a class in management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

CEO needs a personality. Executive management needs to understand the core business of what managing a sales organization means. Just because you have a masters degree does not mean you are better than everyone else.

    Pros

Excellent benefits, and a great work environment. Management is great to work with, and also very supportive of moving forward in the company.

    Cons

They take being on time and clocking in to the extreme. If you are a minute late, it's counted against you, however, in that same token, if you are on time you will get rewarded for this.

    Pros

Get to work for a big Ecommerce company
    Some smart engineers

    Cons

Incredibly outdated technology and the environment is a complete mess and not working half the time, with no clear structure and rules on testing and development. Management doesn't care and expects you to "deal with it".
    .
Software managers rule through fear and intimidation. Expect to get micromanaged to death.

The sad thing is a lot of talented engineers are wasting their careers here in complete dead-end jobs. Avoid at all costs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to know why your site has outages and problems all the time, maybe you should take a closer look at the way your software team is managed and organized.

    Pros

Nice new office building, free snacks and drinks, chance to learn a lot about e-commerce. Company is profitable and the future is looking bright.

    Cons

People are generally nice but there seems to be a lack of good coordination and communication between teams. Some of the technology being used is a bit dated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should be more team knowledge sharing. Or some more company wide meetings would be nice.
