Pros
Supportive, friendly, knowledgeable colleagues; wide geographic reach; strong Corp Social Responsibility agenda; meaningful corporate values; competitive compensation; supportive senior managers
Cons
operational inefficiencies; incompetence in certain areas/geographies (mostly due to inadequate talent pools); lower-end of compensation scale within industry; as an employee who does not work in the Consumer (Retail) Bank, there are many ways our CB platform (online and otherwise) could be improved upon
Advice to Senior Management
Emphasise meritocracy; walk the talk; practice/support what you preach
Pros
1. International Career is a real possibility
2.Well managed and places emphasis on values
3. Ambient offices
Cons
1. Remuneration is more competitive on Wholesale side; Consumer banking pay is less competitive.
2. Bonuses for Financial Markets exceed everyone Else's by multiples.
Advice to Senior Management
Bridge the compensation gap to promote inclusiveness and foster one-bank philosophy
Pros
A good place to break into finance
Chill culture and good bonding within the team
A structure graduate programme if you get into

Evidence of office politics and top-down approach
IT system is outdated
Pros
Company values strong
Less bureaucracy
Good people
Friendly and diverse (at all levels below senior mgt)
Great information sharing and communication
Cons
Overly anglo centric at the most senior levels
Loyalty is not rewarded
local "mafias" are too strong and override company values
Advice to Senior Management
Plan long term with your staff and develop them and not just based on short term costs
Pros
MNC Culture
Good 'Talk' on engagement
Cons
Empty word on engement and care
very poltical people
difficult to trust
Each one living for themself and lacks empathy
Advice to Senior Management
Grow up and take charge, only lip service will further take you down
Pros
Leadership at the very top as also across some businesses is extremely competent. However, there are pockets where incompetence has made its way to the top and these are areas which hold back the Bank from moving at the speed it would want or in the right direction.
Cons
In some areas, performance takes a back seat; exhibitionism is more important and valued and rewarded as well, disproportionately at times.
Advice to Senior Management
Top leadership of the Bank must take the time to go deeper into their line and evaluate every manager purely on merits.
Pros
International mobility
Learning opportunities
Stable work environment
Cons
Promotion isn't always fair
Bonus payout is very asymmetric whereby those is support functions receive far less than their contribution
Advice to Senior Management
Make promotion and bonus more transparent
Make objective setting more "objective" and not shift the goalpost at appraisal time especially when the employee believes they have done more than what is expected of them according to their job objective
