I worked at Standard Chartered Bank

    Pros

I got the opportunity to offer financial advise to clients

    Cons

The pressure to meet monthly deadlines was too much

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please less pressure for the employees to sign up people for loans and instead give your employees tips on how to approach people and convince them to sign up for bank loans. Another key thing that can work is to provide incentives like prizes or cash bonus for employees who exceed or meet their monthly target as opposed to using termination as incentive.

I have been working at Standard Chartered Bank

    Pros

Good collegial culture (not part of the dog eat dog banking culture)
    Fun colleagues
    Not long hours

    Cons

Top down decision making by old men out of touch with reality
    Averse to change
    Uninnovative
    Slow moving

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engage employees more in decision making. Hire more stringently. With the current pool of talent, all your A-grade employees will leave because it is so frustrating to work with the rest.

I have been working at Standard Chartered Bank full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

This place offers an opportunity to achieve fair work-life balance. You will likely find people to be nicer than in other shops. They place a strong emphasis on their values and culture.

    Cons

It is quite a bureaucratic environment. It doesn't offer ample career or growth opportunities. Pretty conservative place as well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

we need to clean up our own backyard: to review our policies and philosophy, to be willing to change our mindset and behavior where necessary, to better listen to our own people.
