Current Employee – been working at Standard Register
Pros – I have been at Standard Register for 15 years and have always had opportunities to advance my career. Standard Register is turning the corner on a major company transformation. There are great opportunities for people who are ready to think in new ways and deliver value to customers.
Cons – Like any company in transformation there will be those that are not satisfied with or fear change. Standard Register is making the changes necessary to be relevant to its customers and viable over the long term.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to transform the company and push the envelop. We have the right solutions and value proposition to grab a major share of the market.

Former Employee – worked at Standard Register
Pros – The pay and benefits are above average for a graduate coming out of college.
Cons – They have had a 9-12% decrease in work force for the past 5 years. This year alone they had a lay offs of over 350 employees which accounts for almost 20% of the workforce. In my very small department they have had 4 layoffs in the past 6 months.
Advice to Senior Management – Communicate with those you are managing. Standard Register has a bad reputation for not passing along key information.

Current Employee – been working at Standard Register
Pros – Employee: Benefits are best I have seen outside of gov't related benefits. Flexible work environment - As long as you get your job done, you are ok. High level of autonomy. The challenges of the work is great. Above all, the people within the organization are great!
Cons – Distance from Home. Very big and busy campus so it may be difficult to to meet with the people you need to. Some of the traditional views from employees and managers around the business and industry.
I think much of this has to do with the changes within the market and the economy rather the Standard Register itself. Customer service call center will always have low retention and be a difficult area.
Change is happening everywhere. We need to alter our approach and attitude and make things better.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to have an open mind as you are beginning to have. Open communication is always good. Help customers and employees understand the changes and why they may be made. Keep moving and shaking!

Current Employee – been working at Standard Register
Pros – Very smart caring employees who really want the company to do well.
Cons – Grossly under paid and over worked workers. Very stressful work environment. Upper management is only interested in grinding their employees to meet unrealistic goals (numbers).
Advice to Senior Management – Communicate with your workers and do what you say you’re going to do. Live up to the core values your workers are the company not your systems

Current Employee – been working at Standard Register
Pros – SRC has very experienced sales professionals in most cases and has been a leader in the industry for almost 100 years. Good benefits and 401 K.
Cons – Corporate leadership is all over the map and needs some real direction. Desperately needs to find a sweet spot in the industry. Jack of all trades and a master of none!
Advice to Senior Management – Move corporate from Dayton, OH in order to find new ideas and talent somewhere else. Streamline the sales process for employees and customers.

Current Employee – been working at Standard Register
Pros – Number of customers with time tested relationships
Multi-level points of contacts within established customer base that could be more effectively leveraged
Cons – Healthcare management team is ineffective in addressing to real issues/opportunities in the market place, struggling with strategy to effectively position its offering with contemporaries/competition
No real venues or resources allocated for innovation... same old story is not working
Tired -outmoded technology
Advice to Senior Management – Clean out the closets and get real with today's issues, the past is history.
Lack of ; employee empowerment, information systems quality-business intelligence and a collaborative spirit is leading to the demise of a once capable and proud organization

Former Employee – worked at Standard Register
Pros – Good HC benefits; good place for long-term 30+ year veterans in the print industry to work and retire from; no one works after 4pm; little to no micro-management.
Cons – Not a place for a young graduate to begin a career; no real sales training provided; focused on aggressive appointment setting; very little direction to penetrate new business; product is too expensive and not relevant; also a good ole boy network internally. Definitely little or no diversity whatsoever.
Advice to Senior Management – Please listen to the sales force. We're the ones with the most insight about our customers. We're not the enemy. The field is quite disgruntled with all the changes to compensation, client care and manufacturing. The result is even more disgruntled customers.

Former Employee – worked at Standard Register
Pros – Free parking good location, long standing company history, good management
Cons – May be too late to change focus of company, industry is hurting. Continual restructuring.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep your A Players. Use the restructure to eliminate anything less than top performers.
