    Pros

Stanford is an exciting, diverse, cutting edge organization. They truly embrace growth, excellence, educational opportunities. Staff are valued and any opportunity a staff member wants to work for, they will find senior management will help them get there...it is by far the best job I have ever had, the finest place to work with the best people, at all levels within the organization. The dept of Psychiatry rocks.

    Cons

Of course, there are challenges, however, in looking back on it...no, I really can't think of a downside

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work! I loved Stanford and if my family were closer, I would be there in a heartbeat.

    Pros

this place has the following characteristics: flexibility challenging creative relaxed atmosphere collaborative safe I really enjoyed my time here thus far.

    Cons

none that I can think of. The pay isn't the greatest - but this is a student position - so considering that it's really great.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you join a lab with plenty of funding, lots of staff, and a collaborative supportive atmosphere - this will make your time fly by.

    Pros

It's a beautiful campus with many, many highly motivated and intelligent people to work with. Opportunities to meet and interact with so many great colleagues.

    Cons

It's a very intense place if you're a postdoc. Numerous postdocs I know suffer from stress and subsequent health issues. This isn't a place to work if you'd like to come in 9-5

    Pros

Supportive leadership with wonderful diverse atmosphere of extremely intelligent people - some of the smartest people in the world work at Stanford Hospital. Great salary and benefits!

    Cons

Cost of living is the worst! Additionally, depending on what office you work out of, traffic is a nightmare given the booming economy of the area (Google, HP, Facebook, Apple, etc.) and the fact that Stanford is building a new hospital to replace the original.

    Advice to Management

The HR department lacks any leadership and is rudderless. The HR staff are terrific and do the best with what they have but since about 2012 all benefits are outsourced, which means no one can help you and due to the complexity of the benefits the vendors are useless.
