Former Employee - Business Development Position in Centennial, CO

I worked at Stanley Consultants full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Excellent group of people to work with, opportunities for growth in some positions (but not in mine), feels like a family atmosphere, can go to anyone for help or advice. Excellent benefits.

    Cons

I feel that my salary was a bit on the low side, but it was fair. Not-so-great raises during the time I was there (3 years), not supportive about outside the box thinking, having the corporate office in Muscatine, IA lends itself to the good old boy network.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be willing to innovate and be willing to step outside the box with things like working from home.

    I worked at Stanley Consultants

    Pros

Great group of people. Low stress environment. Pay was decent. Open door policy with anyone and you can always go for help.

    Cons

Work wasn't interesting and when I was hired back, I wasn't allowed to shift into another appealing position. Bad chemistry among some co workers.

    Recommends

I have been working at Stanley Consultants

    Pros

Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Learned a lot while there and helped me direct my career where I wanted to go.

    Cons

Sometimes the work given was very repetitive and can become a little tiresome, but that was mostly my in ability to make the most of my time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more engaging projects to incoming interns and assistants. Keep up the good work giving access to the engineers as it was very helpful in my development.

    Current Employee - Electrical Engineer
    Current Employee - Electrical Engineer

I have been working at Stanley Consultants

    Pros

    Flexible hours/schedule.
Overtime work is either compensated by taking same number of hours off or with overtime pay.
    Good healthcare plan.
Company has very solid financial health.

    Cons

    Compensation is below industry.
Company needs more technical experts in certain areas.
Slow to let go of those who under perform.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensation needs to be increased. We are not attracting enough talent with the current compensation levels and talented individuals are leaving to go elsewhere to get more money. Also, recruiting needs to be expanded to top tier schools.

I have been working at Stanley Consultants

    Pros

Conseratively run company, fair benefit packaage, international exposure if travel is desired. Growth opportunities are available depending upon which office you work at.

    Cons

Company is somewhat top heavy which can penalize younger engineers attempting to grow their career. Small raises the last 3 years, and little chance at bonuses unless you are a project manager or in sales.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The local management can sometimes be viewed as secretive, and making choices for the company that are not clearly explained to the staff.

I worked at Stanley Consultants full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The up and coming leadership in Stanley is excellent. They see into the future and know how to build the bridge that will take the company into their next successful 100 years.

    Cons

Upper management is stuck in the middle America mind set of about 75 years ago. The "That's the way we've always done it" mind set is not allowing the company to move/grow into this century.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get rid of 60 per cent of upper management. Greggs is keeping his little fiefdom in Muscatine walled up. He/They haven the faintest idea that the bulk of their business is being done outside of Iowa. The world is a broad place, stop making strategic hires based on your weather or not the person will fit into the Muscatine Kool Aid society. You are Little Tiny Fish in an HUGE pond. Not the other way around, get Realistic.
