I have been working at Staples part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Really fun environment to work in. Very supportive managers that really help you settle in quickly. There are many young kids that work here which is nice. Always someone to make you laugh or remember a good time you had with your high school friends.

    Cons

Being called in last minute when it would be really nice to have a day off without that worry. The young kids are not very dependable and are always making things tough for management and other responsible employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it up! Maybe try to lock down the schedule a little better.

I have been working at Staples as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

    Friendly people and management favorable

    Cons

    uniforms costly...shoes, pants, belt, etc

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide store maps for customers to find their way to what they need. Also, associates should have glossary of products and services

I have been working at Staples as a contractor for more than 5 years

    Pros

Flexible Schedule, Friendly Staff and thats about it . I honestly don't have anything nice to say about them right now and thats why Im looking to leave.

    Cons

The perks are terrible... 10 percent ?? I mean its better than nothing but for all the hard work it can be better. I don't know if the company is going down but its just not working out . Right now its back to school and we only have about 5 associates working per shift. They need to do better

Working at Staples as a part-time Team Supervisor

Current Employee - Team Supervisor  in  New York, NY
Current Employee - Team Supervisor in New York, NY

I have been working at Staples part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

VERY flexible scheduling while in school, scholarship money (up to 2k), each store has a few opportunities for advancement from within, chance for commission for selling plans/cell phones

    Cons

Yearly raises of no more than 40 cents (if management, less if associate), lack of payroll hours from corporate, major push on mobile phone sales, if tech or copy center associate is on break/unavailable your stuck helping when you have no idea what your doing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stores need more payroll. It's near impossible to put out all freight and help customers with only 1 cashier and 1 person on the floor. Would like to see opportunities for internships/corporate jobs in areas other than Boston like NYC.

I worked at Staples full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Learning about how to provide customer service and how to sell any merchandise to customer with respect. Also Staples is teaching an employer how to deal with customer in a professional way.

    Cons

Sometime, employers will face with difficult customers, which they can be managed with little patience.

I have been working at Staples full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Big company with lots of roles to choose from, can work from most cities in the country

    Cons

terrible management, all the different departments are awful at working together, bureaucracy runs the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create an open environment and listen to the employees to fix what's wrong instead of throwing new programs and initiatives at us every week

I worked at Staples part-time for less than a year

    Pros

They give you a lot of hours during the back to school season and the workers are a team. They help eachother out through anything. Everyone literally does a small part of a big task to get it done quicker. They are always there to help you with whatever you need as a new staples associate.

    Cons

If its not back to school season or if the manager just doesnt like you, they might not give you many hours a week. They expect you to be able to sell anything from cupons to computers no matter what area of the stoe you work in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to train your associates better. Even if its back to school season and you need them on the floor as soon as possible, you also have to train them very well before you expect them to do as good of a job as the workers that have been working for you longer.
