    Pros

They used to be a good company to work for. They used to be about their employees but now it's just about the big bosses making money.

    Cons

Management is not good, not enough employees, no raises, training is not good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees need to feel appreciated. Everyone should get raises no matter their job title. Sometimes their position doesn't reflect the work they actually do. We usually do way more than our job description entails.

I have been working at Staples full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Staples has always had its eye on the customers needs first. No matter what department you are working in, there is always something to do. And the best part is, there is pretty much always room to move up in the company.

    Cons

It is an office supply store, so during back to school, the place is hectic! The day seems to drag on and on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire extra people during the busy seasons.

    Pros

The only good thing I can think of is the employee stock purchasing program. There is also good eye care but that's it for benefits.

    Cons

There is no room for advancement within the company. They would rather bring in managers from outside the company with no experience. Poor benefits, poor wages and even poorer wage increases a quarter is a high raise for them. Call center jobs are moving to India, Stores are closing and long time employees are being let go so cheaper employees can be brought in.

I have been working at Staples full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to work. Overall, Staples cares about it's employees and make it known that they want to treat people fairly and fix the things they don't like. The company makes an effort 1-2 times per year to seek feedback from the workforce and make real changes based on that input. The company also has smart management, not everyone is that bright but, those at the top and many of the people you interact with on a daily basis care about what they are doing and do it well. The top brass makes good decisions and the company has remained profitable during tough times as a result.

    Cons

Options for advancement can be limited in some groups unless you're willing to relocate but, that is slowly changing. More positions are being filled remotely and people are thinking more about the benefits of employees who work remotely than they have in the past.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep it up! Keep employees happy and they'll keep your customers happy.
