I have been working at Star Career Academy (More than a year)

    Pros

Great location, excellent career fields for graduates to become employed in. Medical, Culinary and Hospitality!

    Cons

Strictly numbers driven business. Their concern is not about the student but about how many students they can enroll, strictly revenue concerned. Have not gotten a raise in four years.

    Advice to Management

    Get new management!!!

I have been working at Star Career Academy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

None! There are really none but the fact that you get a pay check. Not to mention if you really are desperate then take it, but have a plan b!!!

    Cons

Everything! There are no real growth opportunities. It is a hostile work environment and you will have no real support. Under paid and over worked. You will be managed by a group of incompetents across the campuses that will provide you with no real campus support. Do not take the job unless you are desperate!! You may be better off unemployed or on welfare because this is true agony. The company lacks direction and realistic expectations. They manage by fear and threats to lose your job to the point where there is a labor UNION that has formed in the NYC campus to support the staff. They violate many labor laws and EEOC regulations and the employees currently don't trust management so its to show you how they do business!! Stay away!!!

    Advice to Management

The corporate office is actually a failed administration from other failing for-profit schools. This is the wrong industry for you. Please stop haraassing and bullying your employees and attempt to actually treat them fairly and like human beings. They aren't herds of cattle! If you actually listen to your employees that are in the trenches, you may be able to strategically grow! Stop the favoritism and making business decisions that strictly fulfill your personal agendas. Get rid of all the failing corporate heads like Corporate Admissions and maybe you will be able to target market correctly!! I would just start this company over! Admissions Management across the board from NYC to NJ Cherry Hill need to be replaced. They are bringing the company down, and although you have replaced the CEO, it has to tell you something that the company continues to fail with these players in place. Off with their heads!!

I worked at Star Career Academy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are some good people to be found who really care about doing a good job and helping people change their lives.

    Cons

The musical chairs that's been played with the corporate leadership over the last five years is abysmal, especially when each new group only displays different versions of incompetence from their predecessors. The one thing they all have in common is they never listen to the employees who are in the trenches who have great ideas about how to improve their departments or campuses.

    Advice to Management

Identify and then - and this is the important part - LISTEN TO the employees who care are your schools. Hear what they have to say, because they know their student body.
