FSMs in Montana Eastern office seem to be great especially with uptraining a couple really care to help you in your career. need to get the executive teams heads out of there butts and pay more to there employees and maybe they won't quit and don't over work them past 5pm

    Pros

Great people to work with. Beautiful area in the Pacific N.W.

    Cons

There is the owner and then three people right below him who are his "team" One of which is his daughter. All three are quite inept at doing their jobs and nothing gets past them to the owner until it goes through their filters and they can decide who to blame the problem on or how to take credit for something good. They are destroying the company.

    I worked at Star West

    Pros

The corporate office is small and you get to know everyone you work with fairly well. The owner comes in from time to time and hosts barbeques often for all employees. Overall, the management staff is very friendly and easy going. It is very easy to get time off when you need it, and management is very understanding about personal issues that may cause you to be absent or late for work.

    Cons

Reviews did not always happen as they were supposed to and recognition for good work seemed to go unnoticed a lot of the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give performance reviews and try to reward good behavior and hard work a little bit more. Also, be willing to take into consideration some of the suggestions about the job when employees offer them.

    I worked at Star West

    Pros

When you respect management, you get respect. They expect hard work, but reward for it. The corporate office is very community oriented and often enjoy food parties/gatherings.

    Cons

Long hours, over work employees to the max. The benefits are not great. There is no work/life balance for empoyees with families.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't work employees so hard and increase the benefits package (paid time off, holidays, better medical, retirement) to increase retention of employees.

    I worked at Star West

    Pros

entry level positions are abundant. mechanical aptitude, and ability to work unpredictable schedules are the only requirements. as a trade the cost of tools is very low.

    Cons

as a trade the opportunity to grow as a satellite installer are still limited due to the technology and clients provided. the company resources are only given to those that have seniority. there are very qualified managers but their assistants that fill in for them on their time off are close to being useless

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

owner has an arrogant approach to business whom expects growth without sacrifice or study. the confidence is there, however the competence lags behind due to lack of real and current knowledge or workplace situations and the tools required to meet standards.

  9.

If the Senior Management would stick with an idea instead of getting scared and jumping the gun to shut it down.

    Pros

It is a good learning place

    Will work with personal life

    Cons

The Upper Management team will tell you whatever and never follow thru
The Technician is always a liar in a dispute with Customer even if Tech can prove other wise.
The raise criteria they have is unabtainable
