    Technical Support Agent (Former Employee)

ProsFairly easy job and pay is better than most other entry level jobs.

ConsCustomer service environment, high turn over rate.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not know how to fix the situation without higher level pay to get more professional workers.

ProsPTO is fair, Hours are above avg., Training program is way above avg

ConsRep performance reviews are biased, No communication between upper mgt and Reps, FMLA for reps is in constant dispute

Advice to Senior Managementfollow through with promises and act like you care for employees well-being instead of just saying that you do

    Shockingly unprofessional!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Jacksonville, FL

Pros"Describe some of the best reasons to work for StarTek" -- the only benefit is working from home... other than that--- stay away!

ConsNo communication whatsoever --- no feedback on questions, concerns, inquiries; no structure; incredibly unprofessional and untrained supervisors; most paychecks are incorrect and it takes months to have them adjusted; low pay

I hate the thought of going to work

Technical Support - Call Center Agent (Current Employee)
    Decatur, IL

Proscoworkers for the most part - in the same boat; many good people that really need a job

Consyou're scheduled at certain time and are expected to be ready to take calls at that time - unfortunately there are multiple systems that need to be booted up and logged into separately prior to being ready to take a call - you're expected to come in before your scheduled time; I've read other instances of flexible hours but not at this location; training was a joke - totally unprepared for taking our first calls - I think maybe 5 out of original 31 in my training class are still doing this bs - misinformation is also common among some of the redhats along with a lot of 'I'm better than you because I'm a redhat' attitude; many supervisors don't care - they'll laugh, joke and even scream loudly while the minions are trying to understand the little old lady on the other end of the line w/a phone problem. Some, though few, of the supervisors seem to really have a handle on things and actually will help other supervisor's folks when in need; only one trainer I've had seems to be worth his salt. 'A fun place to work' sounds great but the only people this seems to apply to are those not on the front lines - screaming laughter, nerf gun fights, throwing footballs around folks trying to take calls is ridiculous, especially when your help flag is being ignored...

Advice to Senior ManagementWow, get out on the floor without any forewarning and see for yourselves - unless you're one of those that are part of the problem - you must be having too much fun to see the angst of your agents...

I was overworked and had no personal life nothing was ever good enough.

    Quality Assurance Specialist (Former Employee)
    Victoria, TX

ProsI think the only good thing is that you can earn days off rather quickly.

ConsOne is they just may come one day and shut the doors.

Advice to Senior ManagementI think that no one on upper management including corperate wants to take the fall for anything. They are quick to fire someone instead of developing people or may I say closing the doors.

StarTek was the WORST experience of my life

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Cincinnati, OH

Proshealth insurance and 401k offered, work @ home positions available, 40+ hours/week, first and second shift available, overtime offered, paid holidays

ConsTerrible communications, unable to get in contact with HR or management, software rarely runs correctly for the work @ home positions, when the software does NOT work you have no real way to resolve the issue, the pay is awful for everything you have to do, procedures change once a month and your performance is graded based on those procedures

Advice to Senior ManagementStop treating your employees like garbage! If we need help we have to talk to someone in the Philippines who almost ALWAYS refuses to help, or tries to basically tell you that you're stupid and acts like you're inconveniencing them. Also, when you cancel insurance, or ignore requests to re-up the next year, at least let us know so that we do NOT go to the doctor and have to deal with the embarrassment of getting turned down (like i did).

    StarTek Review

    Customer Service Representative (Current Employee)
    Greeley, CO

ProsStarTek has flexable work schedules where your start and stop times can flex one hour either way or even lenghten your lunch by up to one hour.

ConsStarTek does not support their employees. They do not "honor" Doctor's notes for special needs. Medical, Dental and Vision packages are expensive for little coverage.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe honest and give true facts to your employees. Only what you give them will they in turn give back to you.
