Pros
The people, growth potential, and their investment in our continous learning!
Cons
At times it can be long days, or hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Be humble and of with asking for help. No one knows everything.
Pros
The communication from Starbucks headwuarters was helpful. I was proud to work there. There is an emphasis on quality and customer service.
Cons
It is literally impossible to have full-time hours at Starbucks. If you want to make money beyond pocket change, do not work here. Also, you will likely have to work at least one day of every weekend (which is likely typical for retail).
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to those who are hardworking and dedicated on your team. Reward them with a promotion or an award.
Pros
Great community
Great co workers
Great Customers
Great Benefits
Opportunities for advancement
reasonable pay
Cons
If your store or district is poorly managed it can ruin the entire Starbucks experience.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay closer attention to how district managers and managers are running the districts and stores.
I worked in a district where there was absolutely no support from upper management. Everyone the transferred to that district could not believe the lack of support.
happy baristas/supervisors = Happy customers
Pros
You get all the drinks you want for free and coffee beans
Cons
A very busy place to work at
Advice to Senior Management
You should know that everbody works hard to satisfy customers
Pros
+Flexible hours
+Competent management who can empathize with student needs
+Great culture that is born from rich history
+Good benefits (medical, dental, occular etc...)
Cons
-Dealing with rude customers
-High stress during rush hours
-Very hard to switch shifts and not always guaranteed time off.
Advice to Senior Management
I would suggest allowing more freedom to switch shifts. The high percentage of students means a lot of homework and getting stuck working an 8 hour shift can be very tough when you are not allowed to switch shifts.
Pros
Teamwork, Communication, Great Times, Creativity.
Cons
Can be hard to have a consistent schedule. Competing when booking time off.
Pros
Incredible team players, awesome atmostphere. You have to learn to multi-task quickly because it is fast paced and demanding at times (especially if it's a Drive-Thru store). You can grow in the company if you keep an awesome attitude and strive to be the best and give the best to customers AND your team.
Cons
Sometimes your job requires you to do a lot of work for not a lot of pay.
Advice to Senior Management
Managers need to applaud their team more! WE are the face and heart beat of the company and if you treat your staff with mediocre praise, it will fall behind. Always go the extra mile for your staff and your business will grow and be amazing.
Pros
Always changing, constantly guessing what's next. There is little time to get bored. People are constantly coming and going and it's fun to be in such a dynamic place.
Cons
Always changing, constantly guessing what's next. Senior management in Seattle constantly changes and moves the company in strange directions with each change in power. It gets really confusing to steer the ship.
Advice to Senior Management
Stabilize some of the things being done and direction for the business. Let people do their jobs and stop micro managing things and focus on innovation and formulating what's coming next.
Pros
Fun, Friendly, Positive, Energetic, proud
Cons
Low pay, and poor hours
Advice to Senior Management
Increase salary to middle managements and front-line staffs
Pros
free coffee, happy customers, teamwork of staff
Cons
early mornings, (4am), and fattening food!
Advice to Senior Management
need more healthful food choices! MORE low fat options that are affordable!
