Pros
Good work environment
Job becomes like second nature once you get the hang of things
Free drinks while on the clock
Employee discount
Cons
Low wages
Requires open availability- difficult for full time students
Dealing with demanding customers
Not so challenging after a while
Advice to Senior Management
Not every employee needs to have 30 hours of availability to work here. Offer a wider variety of desired availabilities for those desiring more or less hours.
Pros
Starbucks allows for fast promotion, many opportunities to relocate and work in different areas. Overall, it's a great company and a great place to start working for a young adult.
Cons
Can be stressful at times and the pressure to make drinks for unruly customers can sometimes be too much to handle.
Advice to Senior Management
Starbucks has great management overall, but could use some work at the store manager level. Sometimes store managers will do management tasks in the back while they are supposed to be working on the floor.
Pros
Meet awesome customers and develop relationships
Cons
Waking up early, management issues, drama drama drama drama
Advice to Senior Management
Stop making your employees feel awful, listen to your employees before you change things.
Pros
drive to build Entrepreneurship in managers, focus on development of partners, diversity in company is embraced, benefits and package are excellent
Cons
baristas, supervisors should be paid more, often too much on the agenda , the SM, SS, barista team does a lot earn more pay than provided
Advice to Senior Management
embrace internal talent more before you go external, consider wage gap between store managers, the gap is too wide now
Pros
schedule flexibilty and advancement benefits
Cons
starbucks needs to update technology used on a daily basis
Advice to Senior Management
none they do a great job
Pros
Easy, fun, work environment. A great way to talk to customers and meet people from the neighborhood.
Cons
It's frustrating when people think our job is "easy". It's not.
Pros
Great team to work with.
Chances for advancement and a great insurance plan for the kind of company it is
Cons
The pay is really low when you consider how much a drink cost and home much the company is making, but that's america huh.
Advice to Senior Management
Great place to work I just wish that they offered more money per hour. Training was good too I thought it was really professional
Pros
Pretty easy job as far as skill set goes
Free food
Cons
Opening and closing shifts take a long time.
Pros
Great customers, awesome co-workers, free drinks, fast-paced work environment, easy opportunities for advancement, opportunities to make good connections/networks with customers, good coffee, lots of hours if work availability is good
Cons
Very stressful environment (fast paced but stressful), low work morale, irate customers (but few and far between), favoritism of management towards certain employees, hate from management towards certain employees, "just say yes" policy toward the most outrageous requests
Advice to Senior Management
Being a leader myself, I know EXACTLY what needs to be done. First and foremost, COMMUNICATION is KEY when working in such a huge corporation. Many things don't get passed down from upper manaagent to supervisors and in turn, we take the heat for things as simple as a closing manager not letting the opening supervisor know that there is no soy milk in the store. Baristas and ultimately customers suffer from this miscommunication.
Pros
The benefits are the largest reason Starbucks is a Fortune 500 company. It is also a great place to work while attending college as the hours are very flexible.
Cons
You are a robot: everything is laid out in repeatable routines that make the job monotonous.
Advice to Senior Management
Play the game. If you are a Starbucks cheerleader you will succeed, any doubt and you're out. Business degrees are a plus as sales have become the main focus.
