Pros
Teamwork, Communication, Great Times, Creativity.
Cons
Can be hard to have a consistent schedule. Competing when booking time off.
Pros
benefits are great and holidays you get time and a half
Cons
number and value of raises were low
Advice to Senior Management
leasdership was great when i worked there however some of the districk managers seemed a bit bitchy and not nice or understanding
Pros
Awesome benefits, great co-workers (at all three locations I worked), free coffee, flexible hours
Cons
Never given feedback on how well I was performing, although the promotion to supervisor indicated that I did a good job, I suppose.
If you don't like working really early or late, this job is not for you.
Most Starbucks are open 365 days a year.
Pros
Shift are easy to work with
People are fun
Cons
Pay
Would want more growth
Switch between ringing out and making drinks
Advice to Senior Management
Rotate shifts between every employee
Pros
Good benefit packages, employee discounts, constant training, ability to advance from barista (entry level) to shift supervisor if you put in the effort, build relationships with regular customers, meet interesting people
Cons
My store manager had a lack of experience in the particular field. He lacked knowledge and we often had to contact the regional manager for information.
Pros
-great benefits...what other place is giving an 18 year old vacation pay?
-fun work environment, most of the stores have their own cultures of course but it's still friendly and welcoming
Cons
-sometimes too much emphasis on process and not enough on results (I mean, if you're doing the SOP but it angers every customer, is it really worth it?)
Advice to Senior Management
Focus more on results, less on processes.
Pros
place is great if your in college looking for extra spending money, or a part time gig.
Cons
as for a career unless your living with the rents or have a good amount of savings,be prepared to work paycheck to paycheck like any fast food joint.
Advice to Senior Management
have some humility and listen to those who work hard not those who just are good at brown nosing . my store manager is a huge tool who comes in early leaves early and believes anyone and anything as long as he doesn't have to directly deal with it himself.
Pros
Free pound of coffee a week, discounts on items, potential for overtime for a salaried manager position.
Cons
The pay is very low, the bonuses are low, the morale is low, the opportunity to grow is unavailable, the management is poor, with no direction and ever changing. During the course of 1 year there were 4 Area managers, and a variety of shift managers. The management continuously preached they wanted things to change but they continued with the same habits. Upper management would instigate issues on the store levels instead of solve the issues.Made several calls to corporate only to be shunned at work because the calls do not remain anonymous. Scheduling was hectic the manager would place people to get off work at 1 am just to return back to work at 9 am. By far the worst company to ever work for. Absolutely ashamed that I had any affiliation with the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Set a direction and go with it. Complete SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, Opportunities, threats) on your location quarterly, hire competent managers, increase the pay to locations that are extremely busy and decrease pay at locations that are poor performers, change the hours at all locations to 5m-8pm to cut cost and allow for a real part time job, stop setting retail goals while allowing national retailers to sell the same products for a lower price. Change the training methods for all the levels of employees because it is not being utilized on the store levels.
Pros
Benefits, stock options, unlimited free coffee while working, lots of people to meet, a raise every six months based on performance, flexible schedule
Cons
Too much work for the wage, absurdly high standards of store cleanliness (QASA), everyone working is bipolar due to coffee intake, making it an emotional and dramatic place to work. You are more than just a barista, you're a non-commission sales representative, a custodian, a waiter and barista, working for the price of a barista!
Advice to Senior Management
Promote people who actually deserve it.
Pros
Cool staff, free drinks, welcoming colleagues, fun culture, all in all, a great place for a first job to learn new skills
Cons
extremely high pressure and somewhat hazzardous job doing pretty boring tasks with low pay. I burnt myself frequently and had to deal with many angry customers
