Former Employee – worked at Starbucks part-time for less than a year
Pros – The benefits are good and the bonus and sabbatical structure is unheard of for a retail position. Starbucks provides extensive training opportunities, allowing any barista to become a coffee variety specialist while advancing sales and management skills.
Opportunities to give back in the community are plentiful. The Starbucks community regularly puts together community service projects that are staffed by any Starbucks employee who is savvy enough to watch the bulletin boards, and if there's not a project you're interested in you can organize your own.
Cons – The rushes here are some of the most gruelling I've ever worked. People love their Starbucks, and they love it on time.
Advice to Senior Management – The managers I worked for were efficient and competent, giving intense and individualized attention to new hires based on their positive first impressions.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Current Employee – been working at Starbucks part-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Employee benefit package is excellent and available to employees at all levels of the company. Same-sex benefits are available.
Cons – Within the last ten years the company has opened thousands of new stores. This has meant a slackening of core principals as well as not always having cream of the crop candidates applying for jobs and staffing stores.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
