Pros
The people are great as is the training you receive when you first get hired. No day is like the last and the constant change keeps us on our feet. Vendor community respects the work coming out of Starcom
Cons
The promotion system is a bit antiquated and does not always go to who deserves it most. Also, the salary is not competitive.
Advice to Senior Management
There needs to be more talent sharing across teams. Promotions should be based on worth, not time spent on a specific medium.
Pros
Starcom is a great place to learn the ins and outs of the media world. Their training program is top notch and the internship program was an invaluable experience.
Cons
Low pay
Large company, at times get lost in the mix
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage staff and engage in active learning practices
Pros
Big network, Big clients, Easy to Hide if you are not any good.
Cons
Boring (FMCG) clients. Media buyers at best - no planning sophistication. No self-awareness.
Pros
Young and fun corporate culture.
Opportunities for career advancement.
A lot of women hold upper-level management positions.
Easy to transfer locations.
Casual dress code.
Cons
Salary is very low for entry-level positions.
Very limited amount of paid-time off.
Employees frequently work 50 hours/week and sometimes more.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you're doing! Great company to work for. I recommend increasing the starting salary of all employees at Starcom.
Pros
Good atmosphere, carrier opportunities, cosy
Cons
Long hours in work tasks
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Vacation days, flex days and 25 paid holidays are a great perk. There is a general timeline of when you will be promoted and it seems like most managers stick to it and are conscientious of your time and effort you put into each position you hold. Starcom has many major-brand clients (ie Kellogg's, Burger King, Allstate, Nintendo, Blackberry, etc) which provides a great experience and is a great resume builder.
Cons
starting salaries are a little on the low side
Pros
Good company with great accounts
Cons
You work for nothing but college credit.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay your employees
Pros
Fun atmosphere, especially for interns. Nice to get a start in a big agency where you can learn from the best and learn the ins and outs of advertising. Nice people, laid back environment, definitely would recommend for an internship.
Cons
Does not seem like entry-level employees make enough money for the time they put in.
Advice to Senior Management
bring in a beer cart on fridays!
Pros
Work hard play hard environment
Great place to learn media business
Opportunities for higher education
High sense of comradeship
Casual Environment
Ability to take leadership on projects
Great vacation and holiday benefits
Cons
Little to no work life balance
Very low compensation
No overtime compensation
Typically very long hours
Difficult to transfer within SMG companies
Advice to Senior Management
Employees should be given additional compensation and/or recognition for extended hours. The company does a great job with the benefits package however they lose extremely talented people daily due to their low wages and work-life balance issues
Pros
Great Client Roster
Great employees
Good resources and tools
Benefits are top notch
Cons
Poor Career Development
Lack of commitment to retaining premium talent
