I worked at Starwood Hotels & Resorts full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – variety of brands to work with
excellent e-tools to complete tasks
Cons – favoritism
selection process based on connections vs. skill set
Advice to Senior Management – manage ethics over finances - employees are witness to unethical behavior at all levels

I worked at Starwood Hotels & Resorts full-time for more than a year
Pros – I was working for W hotel, one of Starwoods brands. I really loved working there. Hole atmosphere and warmth of all employees there was great. 401K, food was free and amazing, discounts on all Starwood properties, good benefits.
Cons – There is really not that much to say negative about the company.
Advice to Senior Management – none
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Starwood Hotels & Resorts
Pros – The size of the company allows for cost effective healthcare. Starwood truly tries to promote from within. Discounted room rates at other properties in the company are substantial and is available to the Friends and Family of Associates. PTO accumulates quickly and you are given fair oppurtunity to use it.
Cons – There is no consistancy of managment from property to property. Certain company policies are followed as seen fit by upper managment. Some people are targeted if they "don't fit in". Diversity is good but not when certain races are protected and others are not. Executives and Line level staff are treated with more respect and consideration than Middle Managers.
Advice to Senior Management – There should be a balance of men and women in the properties Management Staff. Stop playing Golf so much and do what is needed to fill our hotel rooms instead.
