    good so far

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Prosi like how they provide an upbeat atmosphere. They are the leading hotel chain and it shows in their presentation to their customers.

Consthey need to remember what makes them good: their people. they need to remind themselves of their core values and uphold them to the highest extent.

Great starting point for hospitality career

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

Prosthere is a lot of lateral movement and differing brands to work within. opportunity to move up is fair. there are some departments that are very fluid and are always looking for new energy. then there are the departments where you basically have to wait until someone retires. its like any hospitality company, but having 9 brands to choose from is a huge plus along with 1000+ hotels to choose from

Consthey probably pay the least out of any hotel company. community service is very very big on the "well rounded" mantra, so if you have a family or are a single parent make sure to ask what the commitments are first and what's expected. nothing like getting a bad performance review because you were taking care of your family commitments first,

Guest Services Associate at Bliss Spa

Guest Service Associate (Current Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsDiscounted hotel room stays. Awesome health and dental benefits. Free spa services and products (during product launches). The spa is a great place to work if you're in high school or a student in college.

ConsSometimes management (or at least the manager I had) expected employees to be "on-call." No bueno.

    Transient Environment

Revenue Manager (Former Employee) Guangzhou, Guangdong (China)

ProsThere are locations everywhere and openings are fairly common. The compensations is competitive with industry standard. Employees can stay at discount at branded properties. Time-off is similar to other hotel brands.

ConsLack of support and supplies can lead to employees stretched thin. Career path unclear and limited opportunities. This often leads to hiring from outside of the company, instead of promoting within.

Advice to Senior ManagementUnclear expectations and training doesn't relate to on site needs.

    Office politics
Unfortunately not many if any african americans, especially women, in management

Good place to learn before you move on

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat training especially if you move around the different brands and especially if you are in Operations. Decent opportunities for promotions from within but you must be open to relocation. Corporate office in Stamford can feel too removed sometimes.

ConsVery difficult to achieve all components of incentive program if you are in sales. You will hit one or two of 5 components but rare to hit all. If you do, they will just make it more difficult next year.

Advice to Senior ManagementRemember that we are a hospitality company and happy associates = happy guests. Try to think about that before you think about your investor shareholder price.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
