    Pros

The Brand training classes and opportunity to interface with all departments in hotel operations provides insight into possible career paths.

    Cons

Management does not always enforce the training.

    Advice to Management

enforce brand training and hold people accountable for doing their jobs.

    Pros

Really smart colleagues, amazing brands and industry, autonomy/ability to run with ideas, work/life balance, perks

    Cons

Unclear career growth, politics, takes too long to get things done in an extremely matrixed organization

    Advice to Management

Take goal of being "agile" seriously -- why does it take 9 months to hire someone? 60 days to make a decision? Why is fighting for capital dollars so difficult?

    Pros

Work from home, they provide computer and reimburse internet. Hotel discount benefits, and knowledge in sales.

    Cons

    Employees form cliques
Underpaid compared to other luxury positions in Austin
Only allowed 6 minutes of personal time a shift
Required to be near perfect on CEF
    Poor unhelpful supervisors
Felt like in jail, never had a sense of autonomy.

    Advice to Management

Hire higher quality people, more intelligent people so you can trust their integrity.
Pay higher so the right people will take the job seriously

Focus on building a great company from the bottom up, rather expecting a very large turnover rate.

Focus more on the front lines (customer service) they are what makes up your company.

    Pros

I can't speak too much to other departments, but my leadership encourages associates and challenges them with new projects beyond standard job roles. Successes are rewarded well. Work-life balance is a priority and 'life' time is respected.

    Cons

salaries tend to not be competitive enough for the area

    Pros

Benefits are as good as any found in Hawai'i. Employee share is reasonable in my opinion. At the hotel at which I work, St. Regis, it's an OK place to work. For hourly employees, you do have chances to apply for other jobs and cross train. If you are part time or full time, you get hotel benefits within the Starwood chain.

    Cons

If you are casual, you get nothing but the opportunity to say "no" when called for hours. If you are in management you will work until you drop. It's a revolving door of managers unless the GM is good, which recently, has not been the case. New GM started awhile ago so time will tell. Often shorthanded among the rank and file and overtime or no day off is often required.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the rank and file and act. No lip service.
