    Pros

Great company, Time Off, Benefits OK. Pay could be better, Amazing work life balace

    Cons

No in between with the company . For example you work EVERY Saturday or Sunday, or Both (minimum 9/10 hours). They are behind the times because alot of companies offer work from home opportunities...NOT State Farm. Hard to advance into management even when you're doing an outstanding job. If you're in the call center the only other place they push you to is Claims (ILR or Express), which alot of people don't want to go that route.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't make it so difficult for good employees to advance into management positions

I have been working at State Farm as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Excellent training, (Depending on the agent you work for - Mine was very good)
If you're a people person (which I am), you get to help people out and make a difference in their future and security.
For the most part, every one of our customers who have relationships with our agency are extremely happy and refer friends & family. That being said, you have show that you care and give a damn about people, not just the commissions!

    Cons

Their software (DOS based) takes a lot of getting used to and for me that was the most frustrating part of my job. They do have modules that you have to go through in their training sessions but I think that that needs to be more personalized or hands on with instructors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update the pain-in-the-backside "Necho" system and it would be so much more easy and enjoyable to continue to work there.

    I worked at State Farm

    Pros

Great benefits, good understanding of work life balance, very structured and easy to understand compensation system, generally great group of co-workers

    Cons

Salary caps can be an issue for long time employees who are not mobile, i.e. don't want to move to Bloomington for a different job. Company invests a lot in technology, but never quite seems to get things right.

I have been working at State Farm full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Very friendly comfortable workplace. Co-workers helpful in assimilation to large company. Pay is satisfactory for locality. Total benefits package is best in locale.

    Cons

Encountered a few disgruntled 'old timers' that do not realize what the economy has to offer outside their little oasis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None at this time.
