Good learnig place for fresher
Cons

Advice to Senior Management

Pros
Large company, lots of mobility. The size of the company allows you the opportunity to gather a lot of experience in a short period of time.
Cons
Salaries tend to be a bit lower then the industry standard but still competitive. Perhaps an increase in the percentage of work from home staff would make up for this.
Advice to Senior Management
Great job managing through the past turbulent years. Although we've taken a while to rebound we have come back faster and stayed up better then our competitors who continue to have unreported risks in their cupboards.
Pros
Pretty good work life balance.
Cons
Not much opportunity for career or compensation growth.
Pros
-Benefits
-Good place as an Officer to compare your past performance and responsibility and to gauge your ability to continue in mentoring new comers.
Cons
This relates only to the Investors Bank and Trust division, acquired by STT 2007:
- Non-existant leadership
- No focus on the work, only politic practicing
- Runny, red noses everywhere
- Unmotivated staff content on wasting your time
- Locker room feel
- Focus on breaking technology to interrupt the process and, in turn, wasting your time
- Training department is straight out of a PX90 commercial
- Employee morale dampered by politicing
- Coddling by large men better suited, but afraid, of construction
Advice to Senior Management
Refresh all levels in Back Bay. Walk in any office, they know it's coming. Force them to get on with the rest of their lives.
Pros
Good work environment and excellent growth opportunities.
Cons
Lack of formal training for temporary staff
Pros
Decent benefits, ok place to start out after graduating from school.
Cons
Low salary, high turnover, low morale.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay employees better and people wouldn't be quitting at the drop of a dime
Pros
Good learning experience
Good for new starter
Cons
The pay is below the market
Advice to Senior Management
Management should be more transparent.
Pros
There are lots of opportunites for growth within the company being that it is so large. The try to create a fun work environment and have quite a few employee appreciation events.
Cons
The salary is very low compared to industry averages. They could do a better job at paying for top talent. High turnover, which can create stress on those who stick around.
Advice to Senior Management
There needs to be better communication. Often times upper management seems to be out of touch with the associates. A lot of the decision making does not make a lot of sense.
Pros
They keep you busy and the days go by fast; peers seemed to be okay to work with, not really cut-throat
Cons
Managements puts very high pressure on first-line managers. I would say it's the most thankless level of position in the company. You need to either be the entry level or move to fund manager position quickly
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to do a great job with work-life balance, such as offering 4 10-hour work weeks, job share opportunities and others.
Pros
consistant pay check, job security
Cons
doesn't pay great, so many people you can get lost in the shuffle
