    DCSFS/CPS

    Ongoing Case Manager (Current Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsThe schedule is flexible and co-workers are awesome. Insurance is also very good.

ConsThe hours, the emotional distress, the crying, being threatened by parents, having to essentially be on-call 24/7 and dropping things in your personal life if a crises pops up. Most everyone in this field is lazy and those that actually care about their job suffer.

Advice to Senior ManagementThis whole system needs to be reworked and redone.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Personnel Are Viewed As Liabilities - Not Assets

Compliance Officer - Health-Safety (Current Employee)

ProsSome positions pay a livable wage - - most do not and are 25-40% less than private sector position.

    ConsNo promotional system.
Favored few get pay raises while higher quality staff are discouraged to excel.
Training only provided if federal government pays for it.
Academic studies and hard data analysis are irrelevant. Only majority partisan views are valid - - forget the facts.
Management does not like personnel that are smarter than them.

Advice to Senior ManagementView and reward personnel as assets.

State of Arizona does not value their employees at all.

    IT Specialist IV (Current Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsCo workers help make the work environment bearable.

ConsManagement does not appreciate the talent and experience of their employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementSince basically making all employees ... at will ... anyone can be fired at any time for no legitimate reason, often so management can bring in their 'friends' or 'relatives' who have little experience and/or talent to replace existing employees. Lowest moral I have ever experienced in 40+ years experience working as an IT Professional.

    Dead end

    Human Services (Current Employee)
    Phoenix, AZ

ProsPaid holidays, vacation and sick days. Ability to telecommute. Access to state vehicle.

ConsLow pay & morale. No incentive to perform as there is no possibility of a pay raise. Your pay is decided by the state legislature, not by your performance review.

Advice to Senior ManagementRe-classify case manager positions to a higher pay scale. Reward good employees and use corrective action with poor employees.
