I have been working at State of Arizona full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

If you don't like to work, this is the best place.

    Cons

All around old people, pathetic work culture. People are more concerned about their makeups, dresses, shoes..., obviously they don't have much work so they end up discussing the same. People have weird looks towards the people who come from different cultural background! I would never recommend it to anyone especially those who come from private sectors and have enthusiasm and aggression towards work!!!

I worked at State of Arizona full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits the medical, dental and time off are stellar!.

    Cons

The integrity of fellow officers on average is non-existing. If you stick to policy, they will gang up and lie on you. You have to be quiet when you see fellow officers doing unethical behaviors-for example: bringing the youth food; contra- band and discrimination of some youth. Some of the officers sleep with each other, married or not. The place is one big cesspool.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management need to be more proactive and not bias when innocent staff is reaching out for help. Question why certain behaviors are being done; but, management is messy themselves as well. They don't have any morals, nor do they care for any one who is following policy.

I have been working at State of Arizona full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The schedule is flexible and co-workers are awesome. Insurance is also very good.

    Cons

The hours, the emotional distress, the crying, being threatened by parents, having to essentially be on-call 24/7 and dropping things in your personal life if a crises pops up. Most everyone in this field is lazy and those that actually care about their job suffer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This whole system needs to be reworked and redone.

I have been working at State of Arizona full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Some positions pay a livable wage - - most do not and are 25-40% less than private sector position.

    Cons

    No promotional system.
Favored few get pay raises while higher quality staff are discouraged to excel.
Training only provided if federal government pays for it.
Academic studies and hard data analysis are irrelevant. Only majority partisan views are valid - - forget the facts.
Management does not like personnel that are smarter than them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

View and reward personnel as assets.

    Pros

Co workers help make the work environment bearable.

    Cons

Management does not appreciate the talent and experience of their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since basically making all employees ... at will ... anyone can be fired at any time for no legitimate reason, often so management can bring in their 'friends' or 'relatives' who have little experience and/or talent to replace existing employees. Lowest moral I have ever experienced in 40+ years experience working as an IT Professional.
