    Pros

    Great co-workers, relaxed atmosphere
We were allowed to make our own schedules, which was great for school, and were permitted to take time off during finals and breaks

I have been working at State of Michigan as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

    - Extremely knowledgeable employees.
    - Extremely flexible with school schedule.
    - Good IT.
    - Self-governing job (could be pro or con, depends)

    Cons

    - Older workforce so be prepared if you are hired in and 18-24 years of age.
    - Slow cubicle death.
    - Need integrity and initiative if you want to learn

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please set aside some time once a week for your employees to help your interns out. It is very hard to ask the employees to help out when they have their own deadlines. It doesn't have to be long, just one or two hours a week would be nice.

I worked at State of Michigan as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Interesting work, enjoyed my time there. Great coworkers, supervisor was amazing. Department head was a little flaky in getting work done, but overall was a great place to work.

    Cons

Working for someone, even at a distance (I was far removed from working for the Attorney General directly), whom you don't share the same beliefs and are required to push their beliefs instead of yours sucks. But otherwise a great place to work.

I have been working at State of Michigan full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits, great managers, helping people of all walks of life. Very professional colleagues who are easy to work with and make work enjoyable. We are like family. We encourage one another to develop our skills further and then train others in our office.

    Cons

Sometimes you'd like to turn some difficult people away, and then you realize that's why they are there to see you... When you work for the public sector, there are no fringe benefits, only a salalry, paid timeoff, and great medical. No free passes to yoga, discounts on flights or cars, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    keep up the great work!
