Norman, OK

Current Employee – been working at State of Oklahoma full-time for more than 10 years

ProsFlexibility in work hours, good health insurance and retirement plan. The majority of employees are very friendly and competent and are willing to assist other attorneys.

ConsExtreme Sexism, favoritism, inconsistency, not enough employees to constitutionally be effective, unfair salaries, such as paying administrative assistant with high school education more than attorneys. Inequality in raises.

Advice to Senior ManagementFollow the law regarding treatment of employees, quit showing favoritism, pay equal salaries to the employees.

Oklahoma City, OK

Current Employee – been working at State of Oklahoma

Prosgood benefits in todays economic climate

Conslow wages (actually the pay stinks), no respect from Legislature or public and state does nothing to improve image as it remains in the dark ages - due to the legislature which is also in the dark ages. Almost no room for advancement. Too much of a good ol boy system. If you are a round peg and all they have is a square hole forget it as there is VERY limited opportunity for creativity and input. not up to date on technology.

Advice to Senior Managementsupport pay for workers based on seniority instead of offering the lowest to everyone; value diversity; value workers ideas as they are the ones doing the paperwork and working with consumers (and can we get rid of that noun..there is nothing wrong with 'clients')

Oklahoma City, OK

Current Employee – been working at State of Oklahoma

ProsGood benefits and time off. All major holidays off.

ConsThere is no room for advancement within a State Agency. Government workers rarely go anywhere until they retire. Haven't had a raise in three years because of the economy. Working for the state every penny has to be approved by the legislature!

Tulsa, OK

Former Employee – worked at State of Oklahoma

ProsContinuing education, great benefits, adequate pay, good supervisors, an educated leadership and an overall great dedication to the clients who are served.

ConsGossip, jealousy, petty attitudes of many workers.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen you think you have done all you can, there are times when you might be able to do just one more thing to help a good and potentially great employee that would make the difference between success and failure.
