I have been working at State of Texas full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great boss, fun co-workers. Always something new to learn about

    Cons

We tend to work in silos, and information does not always cross departments. Some things take forever to happen. Can be very burecratic

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow more flexibility in working from home or in dress code--it's not applied the same in all departments.

I have been working at State of Texas full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great work/personal life balance. Management seems pretty responsive. I enjoy the work and those that I work with.

    Cons

Agency is new, having split from TxDOT in 2009, so there are growing and seperation pains for some of the "older" crowd.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think management is making the right choices and pushing the agency in a positive direction. Communication is often a complaint, but I don't think so.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean house. Ask employees at all levels for assessment of issues and problems. Listen.
