Pros
Their properties are nice and clean and the staff is very friendly
Cons
The employee dining rooms are not run well..the food seems to always be empty at the busiest times...cleaning is done at the busiest times...and the menu is small and the same food over and over again.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be nice to see some of the commisioned employees get full-time hours so that they could qualify for benefits.
Pros
Learn a lot from the company
Cons
Bad managment. Was not very helpful!
Pros
It's difficult to lose your job, violation must be extreme.
Cons
Management lacks vision, there is no transparancy, decisions seems baseless as if higher management was feed poor or incorrect information, middle management does not cosult their hourlys and superviors for advice, middle management does not support their people, knowledge and compency varies from absolutely unqualified to stellar (no knowledge sharing, lack of communication), compensation is poor for management, you have to levy every possible skill you possess to get a decent compensation, there is no work/life balance.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop chopping manpower before new un-tested procedures are administered, it kills quality of work. Compensate your employes fairly, they're now doing 10x more with the same pay. Operations departments are excelling, fianace needs to follow their lead and have more communication between the two.
Pros
Friendly co-workers make it easier to work the long hours. People you work with help you by telling you of the policies, the forms to use, the times things are available and when to sign up for things. More information is learned through co-workers than through the department managers sometimes.
Cons
We work 7 hours straight with no break and then have to take "last hour" break. The work schedules are not thought out well and the shifts are not covered with enough people. The management staff needs to come out of their offices and see what is happening during the shifts. Things that look good on paper are not always working in the real world. Some management really have no idea of what is going on in their department.
Advice to Senior Management
Think about the shifts and schedules and plan better. Less people on a shift might bring the company more money but it burns out the workers. More attention to what is really needed in each department will make the workers feel like they are really being looked after. Some shifts are providing the services needed, not because of good management or incentives, but because the workers are just good strong people with a good work ethic.
Pros
Free lunches, free sodas. The work is somewhat fascinating. They are trying to get multiple projects out the door while simultaneously trying to fix existing software.
Cons
Management is a JOKE! They are not truthful at all. It's definitely a "who you know" culture here. They hire a lot of contractors/consultants, when they have competent programmers in house who basically do nothing.
Anyone in IT that has an office is basically worthless. The few people who do actually like to do work never get promoted, only crapped on.
There is no employee handbook, and they seem to make up rules as they go, which may only apply to you, but no one else.
They hemmorage money like it's going out of style! They get a big budget for a project, hire tons of consultants, work for six months, and then have nothing to show for it.
Advice to Senior Management
I appreciate that you took the company private when it came out of bankruptcy. Now do the right thing and get rid of ALL the lazy incompetent people who work in the IT department. Only about 10 or less actually deserve a job there.
Pros
Stations proves year after year what a stable company they are..the last few years have been a challenge, and we made it though!!!
Cons
It would be nice to get the 401k match back eventually, which I know they are working on. I realize we just made it through a tough time.
Advice to Senior Management
I think we are on the right track....keep the drawings going for all the properties, including the Wildfires!!....Also the food and drink specials we have at the Wildfire properties are AWESOME...keep up the good work.
Pros
Advancement opportunities, classes offered, locals place, fairness among team members, you have a name, not a number!
Cons
Lower compensation than strip properties.
Advice to Senior Management
Bonus program, cost of living raises are needed
Pros
Senior Management in my area recognized my cross-functional abilities and gave me projects that were additional to what I was hired to manage presenting more challenges, increased motivation, gratification and recognition for my achievements.
Cons
It is never a good day when you are among 23 people that get laid off. Stations recognized and utilized my cross-functional abilities when times were good but failed to see the value in keeping me around in tough times where my versatility could have been a valuable asset in tough times.
Advice to Senior Management
Look beyond the obvious and be creative with the talent that you have to achieve your goals in bad economic times as well as good times. Otherwise, keep doing what you are doing.
