    Management is incompetent
    prejudice
    no advancement

    I worked at Statoil

    Pros

Good pays for junior roles, although that's comparable to peer in upstream O&G
Lavish with on-the-job benefits for employees
Easy to enter new roles and gain skills
    Good gender balance
Possibly best employer if you want to live in Norway and work 8.30 - 15.00 hassle-free

    Cons

Slightly annoying self-serving rhetoric on values, which seldom matches practices and attitude of employees
Overly bureaucratic, I mean for real!
Over-staffed, which leads to intense office politics by staff with no meaningful task to accomplish
Little accountability, no meritocracy whatsoever, yes-man culture
Various cases of incompetent senior management
Bluntly put it, a discriminatory organisation - Norsk are better paid and move on. Others are left vegetate

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make up your mind: become international company or remain Norwegian. Current narrative is inconsistent with organisational reality

I worked at Statoil full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The work-life balance is really good, you can come to the office at 0900 and leave at 1500. If you like coffee, there are plenty of coffee breaks.

    Cons

Complete lack of deployment and development opportunities for young employees. Anywhere you want to go, you must pass several management. HR or PO as its now called has too many processes and remind more a group of self appreciating friends. Corporate values, Even Stronger Values surveys and Global People Survey is hardly followed up at all. This is maybe an international company on the map, but still all major decision making processes are being taken by Norwegian "yante loven" complying managers. There are few which want good for this company, but staying here is simply ruining your career. After 7 years I have had enough !

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make an international management. Easy on the process of deployment and career development. Stop talking about Statoil Book if almost nobody is using it. Instead focus om change that actually involves the end users!
