    Pros

Very friendly atmosphere. A lot of down time. You learn the ins and outs of the hotel industry. If you like to interact with people, and are using in a good mood, then this might be a good job to gain experience!

    Cons

From my personal experience, some of the cons were that the pay is very low. I don't understand how you expect someone to be on their feet the whole time, engaging, smiling and processing all guest services properly but be paid very low. You lose motivation this way!

    Advice to Management

    Increase pay!

    Pros

Very personable staff and customers- extended stay hotel so pretty much know all of the guests.
Easy to learn a lot because smaller staff.

    Cons

Demanding schedule as at any hotel- work lots of nights and weekends- be willing to do this.

    Pros

Building was well-designed, rooms were quite nice, and the facility itself was a place to be proud of working at. Clients were happy with their stay and thought rates were reasonable. CRS, although outdated at the time, functioned very well and kept a decent number of rooms booked. I felt confident that the company was doing well enough to stay in business indefinitely.

    Cons

Dishonesty regarding hiring practices and promotions, poor organization, and extreme favoritism. Director of Sales had taken over all management positions by getting the other managers to quit or be fired. It took months before corporate level management stepped in and resolved the situation. I realize this was not an average experience for an employee of Staybridge.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps better communication between corporate-level management and on-site managers/employees would resolve a number of issues.

    Pros

Employee Benefits (that's without the thousands of questions you get asked)
    Co-Workers

    Cons

Management: Never know what's going on, lack of communication.
Organization: Need more ways to be organized.
Technology: Computers need to be updated.

    Advice to Management

Everyone knows management is busy, but when your employees aren't heard, your whole hotel will be unhappy. Instead of just shutting the door, despite always saying the door is open, maybe you should listen w/o judgement & without a 'no' answer before hearing the question or suggestions. Ask questions on how we could possbily make things easier or make things work more efficiently for employees. Encourage them instead of scaring them.

    Pros

I really enjoyed the working environment and guests most of the time. The Ops Manager was easy to talk to and seemed to be genuinely interested in the staff's best interest, as well as the housekeeping and engineering departments being great.

    Cons

inconsistency with the scheduling, did not feel as though there was personal opportunity for growth in the company. After I started, I was informed that there were no health benefits which was one of the main motivators for taking this position.

    Advice to Management

Consistency and follow through are the only things I would suggest that be improved. The GM is responsible for implementing a plan of action and seeing it all the way through and though she is very sweet and a good person, I felt like many plans of action just fell off after they were no longer new and exciting. I feel that more communication and follow through would be a great asset.

    Pros

Front desk staff is a fun job, great to get to know long term guests. Stress-free job, with decent pay for such low-skill work.

    Cons

Bad hours, often understaffed, guests will get mad about things completely out of your control, but you still have to manage it without blowing your cool.
