    Pros

Steelcase practices what they preach. They are innovative, forward-thinking, environmentally responsible, and they invest a lot in the wellbeing of employees. Working for a large, global company gives employees the chance to travel and work with people from all around the world.

    Cons

The Grand Rapids HQ has a serious lack of diversity.

    Pros

Steelcase is still an industry leader and makes decent products. There are also still a lot of good people left there. The offices are beautiful.

    Cons

The new executive leadership team is completely focused on a cost cutting and outsourcing model of profitability....disguised behind a thin veil of desiring to be more global. They talk a great story about engagement and unlocking human promise to their customers, but inside the company's headquarters you will not find much authenticity behind those words. If they didn't give such generous severance packages I suspect they would have been taken to court many times over for discriminating against women, minorities and people over 40. It is sad to compare the wonderful company that Steelcase once was to what it has become today.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should realize that the Steelcase mission and aspiration to unlock human promise is one they should really try to internalize with employees rather than spout as a hollow marketing ploy. Engage and trust your employees. Offer opportunities to women and minorities - there are capable people even if they don't happen to be old pals of the new CEO. Stop the corporate greed and introduce a little more caring into the workplace again. You might just find unlocking human promise can increase profitability more than your standard cost cutting.

    Pros

Great environment to work in. The majority of people are happy and willing to help you with what you need done. It truly is a team environment. They make going to work every day very easy

    Cons

Not a company to work for if you're highly competitive. The greater organize does not support lone wolves and you will not last. It is truly an environment of working together for the betterment of the company. Cheap when it comes to travel.

    Advice to Management

Follow what we preach! Some managers do not follow the "Love How You Work" motto. Often times they neglect to recognize the need for team building and fun activities.
