I worked at Steelcase full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

they promote within the company first, fairly good benefits.

    Cons

Ever since they went public, the culture of the company went from a family environment to more of a corporate focus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to the old days and focus on the employee, a happy employee is a productive employee.

I have been working at Steelcase as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The people there were always willing to help and teach me new things

    Cons

I worked from 6 AM to 3 PM so I was always tired at work. I also felt secluded from other interns.

I worked at Steelcase as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

I worked with a very talented team that was extremely knowledgeable in their field and other aspects of the company. The people as individuals were really easy to get along with and enjoyable to spend time with. I received very good pay, especially for an intern. Their products are very innovative as Steelcase strides to stay ahead of the market and their competitors through extensive research. Steelcase"practices what the preach" and allow their workers lots of flexibility.

    Cons

While I was only an intern, I didn't experience this first-hand but in many cases I saw that it is difficult to get promoted and move up the corporate ladder. There isn't always usually much variation in the day-to-day schedule.

    Pros

Great work-life balance, company genuinely invests in our personal development as an employee. Wonderful people to work with. The company hires to a profile and is very good at it. You will find that when you begin working with a team everyone is vested in the common goal and more than helpful. You are never left out to hang. Jobs are not commission based.

    Cons

I honestly cannot say say anything bad about this company
