I worked at Steiner Leisure full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

very good way to see the world, meet a lot of people from different cultural backgrounds, good remuneration if you can sell products and yourself for treatment bookings

    Cons

very long hours of work, often 11 hour-12 hour days, five and a half days a week, selling is an integral part of the job and this will dictate if you succeed in the company not your skill at beauty hair or fitness

    Advice to Management

more frequent proactive reviews of individual staff to analysis potential candidates for promotion and also taking into account that staff who may not be able to sell a lot may still have great potential to lead a team. more information to staff and what it is to live and work on ships for steiner, positive and negatives...

    Pros

The salary system changed already but if you are not a fan of commission based salary than you will find it hard.

    Cons

Commission based salary. If you are motivated and love what you do it is a great way to make money while helping the customers to find their favorite treatments.

I worked at Steiner Leisure (Less than a year)

    Pros

Single cabin, 2.5 stripe officer status, office, private practice, access to most ship facilities and restaurants is free, free time in ports, opportunity to see the world , make money and practice aesthetic medicine

    Cons

Big pressure revenue wise, long contract, bad cooperation and health insurance support emergency wise, requirement to sell agressively

    Advice to Management

Less pressure in case of low revenue ship incomparable to others, better communication health insurance wise, more individual approach in non-standart situations

    Pros

You can see the world. You meet amazing new people. You can make lots of money.

    Cons

Long working hours. Very retail based, but that does help increase your own income.

    Pros

The travel is amazing and getting more time of then some other company's offer is great too. Plenty of room to advance your career within the company as they generally promote from within

    Cons

Long contracts of 7-9 months. Vacations can be short for the time spent away from home but that depends. Time off during contracts can be limited to half days only which really wears down your energy. Land bases directors can sometimes not be great assistance. Pay can be awful if on long cruises regardless of ship size or business.

    Advice to Management

Follow through with conference calls and call ins on an ongoing basis. The time wasted calling out from ship at set times to fitness directors or directors of operation to get no answer is unproductive and disheartening. Impliment a decent supplementary wage from cruises longer the 14 days regardless of ship size.

    Pros

Travel the world, opportunities to gain extra time off, earn money without spending a penny.

    Cons

Long hours, standing promoting if no guests, only earn a decent amount of money if you have guests.

    Pros

Despite the obstacles and unnecessary frustrations, most of the therapists and support team are genuine giving & caring people and it is a pleasure to work with them.

    Cons

Low pay and no opportunity for merit or cost of living increase, ever, period. Highly dedicated support staff and therapists are not appreciated in the slightest. They are treated like they should be grateful for the scraps that are thrown their way. Does not foster a team environment.

    Advice to Management

Lead by example, gain respect by being willing to do what you ask of your team. Be more proactive and have a plan. Directly deal with issues.

    Pros

Other than traveling to nice places thats it

    Cons

Where do I start they mis treat their therapist so bad, these poor people work 12-16 hours a day sometimes only bringing home 200 a month. Yep 200 a month! They have to wear god awful make-up everyday or they are told to go back to their cabins. Managment in Miami is all about the dollars I guess because most people are foreign that gives the free will to yell at spa workers, they talk down to them constantly. I have never met so many rude people in my life its a wonder they do not have lawsuits lined up down the street but the company is based in the bahamas.

    Advice to Management

Nothing, Karma will take care of it.

    Pros

There are some very hard working and well meaning people at the company. One can learn a lot from them.

    Cons

Disrespectful and abusive of employees. Anachronistic early 20th century management style; very patronizing. Entire organization driven by fear reacting to fear.

    Advice to Management

Please treat people with dignity and respect. It's not just a "nice" thing to do, it would actually improve bottom line results.

I worked at Steiner Leisure full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I cannot recall any pros, except location and receiving some Disneyland benefits

    Cons

they rape you on salary and tips(none) . I have never felt more uncared for, underappreciated and devalued as an employee.

    Advice to Management

the employees make the company, not the product or ill-performed services. why would you make it so difficult in every turn for the employee. taking away tips, no shows, and benefits.
