I have been working at Stephens full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The company culture overall is pleasant. Most of the people in my department are friendly and are willing to help each other out if necessary. They have great benefits. There are many opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Pay raises are low. The training methods could use improvement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider giving employees bonuses or better raises. Training methods need improvement. Cross train employees to increase efficiency.

I have been working at Stephens full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good people to work with - very friendly staff and amazing culture. Competitive pay and benefits.

    Cons

I worked in the insurance department and was not properly trained. My immediate supervisor focused more on brown nosing clients than the training and getting to her staff. This probably explains the revolving door in her department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to extend the culture of Stephens Inc into Stephens Insurance!

I worked at Stephens full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

NYC office is based in Manhattan mid-town east. It's convenient and conveys status. Bank is well known among smaller, private investment banks.

    Cons

Ancient mindsets; old white boys club at the topmost levels; no people development; people policies arbitrarily applied.

    I worked at Stephens

    Pros

You are given a high level of responsibility out of the gate. Kind of a learn on the fly place, and initial mistakes are ok, which allows one to truly learn the business. Takes care of their employees in terms of travel, accommodations, office perks, etc - think spare no expense. You'll work your tail off, which depending on how you look at it, is a pro or a con.

    Cons

Nepotism is very alive and well here. Merit seems to be an afterthought, whereas kissing up to your superior does wonders in terms of promotion and how you're perceived up the ladder. Be careful - while everyone is your buddy on the surface, things may not be as they appear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at the numbers instead of whether or not someone comes and BS's with you in your office. Needs to be more of a meritocracy. Don't punish those that keep their head down and work hard.

    Pros

You learn a lot about company culture. good for stability if you want to plant yourself the rest of your life

    Cons

No room for growth, also to be an investment form this company does not invest well into their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I believe that management should try to be mentors and focus on advancing current employees to higher positions

I have been working at Stephens full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Salary has been made enticing because of the High Turnover! In less than 18 months (5) employees resigned & that is a small office so only four employees remain.

    Cons

Poor Leadership, passive-aggressive Manager - micro management style. No HR support, they have failed to investigate the inadequacies in the Austin office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Management needs a shake up, hire a New office Manager.
