Current Employee – been working at Stericycle
Pros – Changing work environment, Employee stock purchase program, Stretch goals, Growth and career advancement opportunities, Fast paced, Growing and stable company.
Cons – Stericycle's philosophy on pay scale is to pay below the median salary for a particular role within the industry, and to provide better than average benefits for hourly employees, and above average bonus structure for salaried employees.
Advice to Senior Management – Employee stock purchase program is too complex. Most companies allow employees to purchase stock with each paycheck at that week's market rate. At Stericycle, stock is purchased in bulk at 6 month intervals. This is very strange and I believe more employees would purchase stock if allowed to purchase at more frequent intervals.

Pros – Excellent benefits package. Opportunity for advancement if willing to relocate. Young company that's growing and adding new positions (4 new positions in the last 2 months.)
Cons – Pay not that great which causes high turnover. Also, relocation benefits offered only to high-end management(District Manager or higher.)
Advice to Senior Management – Incease pay! Increase pay! Incease pay! Increase pay! Incease pay! Increase pay! Incease pay! Increase pay! Incease pay! Increase pay! Incease pay! Increase pay!

Current Employee – been working at Stericycle
Pros – When you are a contractor you get paid top dollars and no overtime.
Cons – If you are a full time employee you are expected to work 50+ hours a week.
Advice to Senior Management – find a different career.
This no budget in the IT department gig will be over at one point or another. A bunch of stay at home moms wanna bees, who don't know what a development life cycle should be like. Its enough to sit in meetings and taking management training and time to find competent managers.

Pros – Great Health Care, 401K, and other fortune 500 standard benefits for their employee's, they don't hire recent college grads, has an older corporate culture. It's an ok, place to work but, could be a much better place if they listen to their employee's rather than buying companies -which past employee's have formed or have grown, thus the great stock growth.
Cons – below pay averages for drivers and sales, capped commissions for sales - they want to hire Medical Sales talent at 50K a year- A sales rep can't make more than 80K total compensation. Management doesn't listen to employee's advise when it comes to market trends or business opportunities. Some middle managers have a "Fogettabout it or Soparno" past in the waste industries or no understanding of the complex industry, we are in. Sales Cycle is a lengthy one that takes 12 to 18 months for a deal to close. Biggest issues outside of low pay is that you have no customer service support, billing issue are out of control and customer are irrate about this situation. To have any changes to a customer you have to submit a ream of paper work to home office versus, having a strong backend support. If your a female like me or have some color in you, you will not be in middle or upper management in this organization. A couple of the middle managers tend to be abit rogue and rough to their employee's. Company has a big team apporoach and it can work with some but, it can be hard with other members of the team. Recently they had an employee survey and they wanted feedback but, you had to give your Social Security.. if you like to be Micro manage then it's a great fit but, they need to realize that their employee are an asset and they need to develop them , enpower them, and most of all trust them.
Advice to Senior Management – Mr. Miller please listen to your employee's, promote from within as it's a complex business, pay your driver more and pay your sales folks more -like an uncapped compensation plan,if they are making big commissions they will remain loyal, be happy and work more hours, bring in more revenue and profit for Stericycle. They wont leave to Waste Management like many have done recently. Some of the middle management needs to be knowledgeable of the waste industry and hospital setting.

Former Employee – worked at Stericycle
Pros – Commissions are good if you even make it that far.
Cons – Where do I start? This is an extremely high pressure sales job. You are pretty much tricking customers into signing a long-term contract for more money with almost no incentive or added service.
Extreme favoritism by upper management for certain employees.
Dishonesty of upper management.
People have gotten screwed out of money on their commission checks.
Seasoned reps receive 3 times as many leads and are basically guaranteed commission without doing much work.
You are taught to basically lie to customers regarding the price of their services.
Extremely unethical pricing and very price discriminating.
Advice to Senior Management – Open your eyes.

Pros – Wow, I actually need to think pretty hard about this one. Has potential to be a good company to work at but, the infinite negatives would need to be fixed.
Cons – It’s hilarious that there are people that have posted Stericycle is a good place to work. It’s SO transparent that it’s a company higher-up trying to do damage control. Stericycle’s arrogance is its downfall. Stericycle takes advantage of its size and market share to bully its customers no matter of the size of the company or the state of the economy. I’ve said hello to the vp of the small quantity division probably 100 times while I worked there and most of the time he would just walk right past me, nose in the air. You are constantly afraid for your job and the turn over is unbelievably high. Nepotism is rampant and egos are very high. The higher-ups have no clue of the lack of morals in many of the sales reps and unscrupulous deals they sell. As long as the goals are met that is all that counts. I could go on and on.
Advice to Senior Management – Don’t look too close at how the top reps are killing it because you’ll be shocked! What a joke.

Former Employee – worked at Stericycle
Pros – Larger sized company with a small company feel
Excellent job benefits, including stock options for eligible employees
Great co-workers
Exciting growth and opportunities
Cons – Since the company grew so fast, many of the business processes struggle to keep up. Growth through acquisition can lead to a lot of technical challenges. Some of the way that the company service offerings are designed can be very confusing and complicated.
Advice to Senior Management – Try to remember to keep things simple.

Current Employee – been working at Stericycle
Pros – Good pay for recent college grads...If you don't mind being dishonest to get it.
Cons – This company is very dishonest in how it does business. I have been told by numerous customers in numerous ways that we are dishonest, misleading, immoral, sneaky, and shady to name a few. Stericycle knows that they charge too much and "Include" services that their customers would not even want, if they were sold appropriately rather than just sneaking them in while drastically increasing their price. The company has a HUGE department based on renegotiating prices with current customers who feel that they have been cheated. When previouse employees have expressed their concern for Stericycle's business practices, upper management just looks the other way and says it's a part of sales. Even in todays poor economy, quotas keep going up, which only encourages employees to perfect their untruthfull selling practices to make sure they keep their job.
If you are an honest person, you will have trouble sleeping if you work with this company.
Advice to Senior Management – I don't even know where to start...

Current Employee – been working at Stericycle
Pros – Great bonuses and monthly awards, good benefits and good pay. My immediate boss was great. Monthly contests could be lucrative as they give out gift certificates, bikes, TV's, iPod's etc. It's actually not that difficult to win either. Wow, there isn't much else to say about how great the company is. The vacation and personal days are great. Lower level management is understanding and fair. The building is nice and they always pay on time. They offer overtime which can help a great deal if you need it. Good leads and not that difficult of a sell if you put time into it.
Cons – Commissions get higher each month, management doesn't promote based on performance, more on popularity (and it helps if you're young, dumb and female).
Advice to Senior Management – There is one person in the company that promotes based on superficial reasons. This frustrates hard workers and top producers. I'm sure you've had some complaints on this issue, but when someone mentions it, they get fired.
