    Pros

many benefits offered for free like flu shots, blood screening and mammograms. Employees can wear jeans if they have at least $2 per week deducted from their paycheck for charity.

    Cons

Sterling is a very large retail company and IT employees must be available 24/7 at peak sales periods, like Christmas, putting a damper on vacations. The environment is high stress. Some managers often take out their stress on employees with no consequences (other than losing some good workers).

    Advice to Management

Walk the talk about how managers should treat their employees and have consequences when there is a pattern of abuse.

Corporate mindset - raises are hard earned and small, work hours can be strenuously long, hard to get straight answers from higher-ups.

    Advice to Management

Credibility, credibility, credibility. Pass it down to your district managers. Do as promised or make no promises.

    Pros

there are not many pros to working at Sterling Shoes other than there are a lot of great people at store level

    Cons

Senior management need to take a long hard look at who are their valued employees. The work load that is expected from the SM's and store staff is insane.

    Advice to Management

Senior management has no clue that the majority of their DM's work half a day and get away with it. They also need to value and compensate employees that do work above and beyond. They also need to stop blaming the staff at store level for poor sales, maybe you should look at the product?
