Stiefel started out as a great place to work. Once GSK acquired the company, it was all downhill from there.

I worked at Stiefel Laboratories full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great people. Good Salary. The products used to be good. If you were in the West Region, the regional manager was absolutely the best.

    Cons

There is a serious lack of new innovative products to sell. The new compensation plan, which removed sales as a bonus measure, is terrible. There is a complete lack of transparency in how the new bonus plan is calculated. This gives reps no incentive to sell.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of all the terrible GSK managers.

One by one, all of Stiefel's products lost patent protection and company nose dived as a result

    I worked at Stiefel Laboratories

    Pros

Great people and opportunities with excellent benefits and compensation. Growing rapidly in a very hectic but rewarding environment. Well respected with their customers.

    Cons

Recently acquired by Glaxo Smith Kline and falling under their rules and regulations. No clear direction since acquisition. Lack of direction in the sales area by management. Treats people as commodities with little respect.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees especially in the sales area better. Stop using the word transparent when you really do not mean it.

I have been working at Stiefel Laboratories

    Pros

The people here are great. It is a privately held company and the atmosphere is like that of a family. The company management really tries to keep everyone informed about the forward progress that the company is making. They also are diligent in keeping the employees updated about changes and how the current economic situation might impact our business. Management here appears to take a very humanistic approach to issues. People are treated with respect and hard work is valued. Extra effort is rewarded and the management team recognizes those who go the extra distance to meet expected time lines.

    Cons

It is a relatively small company and one must perform many different job functions in order to cover all areas. Resources are sometimes limited because the personnel pool is small.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I really have none at this time.

I have been working at Stiefel Laboratories

    Pros

Stiefel is a privately owned company. In the year working for them, the company show's stability. This is a company that has been in business for over 160 years.

    Cons

The company tends to bring in a lot of contractors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would recommend to possibly get more feedback or listen to the contractors a bit more. Get a feel to see if whether the contractors are satisfied or glad to be working for Stiefel.

    Pros

It veries from Department. I personally have a great manager, but others do not. It is nice to work for a private company. I have the opportunity to be highly visable and make an impact. Company is very Family focused. This is also the typ of company you could work for your entire career.

    Cons

not enough day-to day recognition. Not enough awards and recodnition. It seems only Directors and above get recognition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
