I have been working at Stifel Financial full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Actively involved in many departments in the firm, which in turn leads to a vast skill set and a wide knowledge base. Hours are consistent. Company is healthy. Many opportunities within the company.

    Cons

Typical corporate mindset. Very hard to get days off...particularly around the ideal times(i.e. Holidays, middle of Winter/Summer)

    Advice to Management

Hire more people. This department is drowning in work and will consistently have the important bottleneck work so long as the company is in business. Managers/Supervisors/Vice President - don't be so harsh on your employees. Everyone in the firm knows you are the scariest/most intense bosses in the firm. Manage with the carrot methodology and positive reinforcement more than the stick methodology. Screaming, hostile tones, and bad attitudes are contagious and lead to a bad mood in the whole department.

    Pros

The environment was enjoyable because it allowed me to connect with the current employees. The people there are very welcoming and helped me transition into my summer position,

    Cons

The number of hours they expect their interns to work was a challenge for me. I know that this is a common complaint but I think people should know that long hours doesn't only apply to bulge bracket firms.
