    I worked at Stifel Financial

    Pros

The hours were flexible, the atmosphere was friendly, and the manager was very supportive when my personal life was hit with an unexpected issue.

    Cons

Client confidentiality was not always a top priority. One person gossiped and talked bad about brokers and other staff.

I have been working at Stifel Financial

    Pros

It's a great place to learn about the finance industry, the people are welcoming and friendly. The work load is reasonable compared to the pay. The company encourages you to ask questions, and broaden your understanding of financial markets.

    Cons

If I had to point out a distinctive flaw in the structure of the company, it's poor compensation of operational staff. The company seems to consistently cut corners in compensating employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It takes more than brokers to run a successful branch, compensate your employees fairly so they want to stick around. A structured training program would do wonders for efficiency.

    I worked at Stifel Financial

    Pros

Home office was extremely helpful and knowledgable. Best analysts and access to research reports. Most clients very appreciative and I enjoyed developing professional relationships with them. I enjoyed the responsibility and privilege of helping people manage their finances and legacies.

    Cons

No formal training. I was given a manual and told to figure it out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sales assistants should have formal training and not rely on branch office to train assistants. Assistants should be compensated by Home Office and not Branch Manager's budget.

    I worked at Stifel Financial

    Pros

The cons are that it doesn't really compete against top Wall Street firms so more chilled though there are times the hours can be pretty bad. If you don't have a job, a good place to go. I graduated in a bad year.

    Cons

It's super cheap and pay is not competitive. Dude sits across me won't go home in the summers because he can't afford a/c. Turnover is high. People interviewing all the time. Ask in the interview what the turnover is like.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay up.

I have been working at Stifel Financial

    Pros

There are no pros, only cons.

    Cons

Most staff in the IT department are unskilled and extremely unprofessional. Headquartered in St. Louis, they run at rural cookie-cutter pace. There is no sense of urgency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tabula rasa. Lose the good ol' boy club mentality, end the special relationships so you can progress.

I worked at Stifel Financial full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Stifel is a great company with a good philosophy of "firm of choice."

    Cons

Stifel assumes that it is the firm of choice for employees. The operations directors do not all have college degrees nor enough HR knowledge and experience. The director that fired me for not knowing and not complying with company policy, is the same one that did not report nor take action when an employee complained repeatedly of sexual harassment. I complained of the hostile work environment and was fired within one week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To the senior director, take an interest in training and developing your directors.

    Implement higher compensation when deserved
