    I worked at Stolt-Nielsen

    Pros

The company's work culture is professional at their tank service depots as well as at their corporate offices.

    Cons

The location of the tank depot was certainly challenging as it was far away from city limits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I hope Industrial Engineering Interns are given more projects to work on, namely, to improve processes in the depots and see changes being made to operations.

    I worked at Stolt-Nielsen full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Relationships with coworkers are great. If you know the right people, you can move up quickly.

    Cons

Salaries/bonuses are very low to regular staff, while managers make all of the money and have bigger bonuses. In my opinion, there is no opportunity for growth for a young professional. You have to work there 20+ years before you'd ever become a manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start listening to the staff in your department and it will help things to run smoother

I have been working at Stolt-Nielsen

    Pros

A good opportunity for someone who is working in the maritime industry to take their skills into an office setting.

    Cons

A slow moving bureaucratic mess. Employees are more concerned with placing the blame on another party than getting the job done. Management is staffed by unmotivated individuals who are completely out of touch with the industry.

I have been working at Stolt-Nielsen

    Pros

Great Benefits. Really, that's about it. Apparently in the old days, it used to be a thriving company and a great place to work. I didn't have the pleasure, but apparently they worked in Greenwich, CT for years and had their own building. Employees talk about how good the cafeteria was there and how the building was great and it was full of employees.

    Cons

Everyone is afraid of another layoff or a department move to Europe. The older operators/brokers say the company won't work in the US long term. They are moving all the departments overseas. Employees are getting packages currently. Don't go the the HR department for help - there isn't anyone there who can direct you or make a decision. I think all the negative talk during the work day brings us down even further, and it will allow the rumors of layoff to come true.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come to the US more often. Let us know what is going on!

I have been working at Stolt-Nielsen full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

In general a very good company to work for. Positive attitude to people. High work ethics. Above average remuneration and benefits. Available opportunities for career development .

    Cons

The company is not uniform. There could be a great difference in teamwork and working environment between different offices and even different departments within the same office. Sometimes shady politics can interfere in working relations.

    Pros

Special industry. Prepares you for many good jobs with better run companies. Used to have good social benefits. So many long term employees, always can get an answer to your questions. Very interesting industries.

    Cons

HR and family owners are destroying this once great company. HR leadership is the worst I ever see in any company anywhere, almost like a shadow company. Every euro goes to owners and the slave employees get nothing and told we are not worth our salary. No appreciate ability or effort.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Resign. HR can go to the devil.
