Pros – good co workers
have some benfits
can ask for time off when needed
have an employee discount
can transfer to another department if you want
Cons – they keep cutting hours even if you been there for years
having to belong to a union. I wish employees had the option of getting out union. That should be an option, allow the employees to chose to belong to the union, or not belong to the union.
the good mangers, and good full timers get tranfered
some of the workers who don't pick up the slack who call out all the time, and the company doesn't do a darn thing about it.
Advice to Senior Management – change the dress code! hate purple and yellow!
allow workers to wear something besides aprons, the neckstraps so uncomfortable!! the pockets on the aprosn are so small!
get rid of the slackers, good help is very hard to find!
get reflective raincoats
provide more stuff needed for the job so employees don't have to dig in their own pockets to pay for it.
stop transfering mangers, when things are getting good, the mangers are transfered, and you have to get use to a new manger, and their rules

I have been working at Stop & Shop part-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Full benefits after only one year, flexible hours, very low stress, close to home, builds good work ethic and friendships
Cons – Slow career advancement, management does not understand the need for more man hours to get work done, does not appreciate a job well done
Advice to Senior Management – Take notice at what your employees are doing for the company and treat them with the respect and admiration they deserve when they bend over backwards to help out.

I worked at Stop & Shop part-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Flexible schedules, mostly part time. Great for young moms, students or retired folks. Not perfect, but okay Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance after a while for just the worker, good for young students without dependents.
People are very friendly. It felt like family.
Cons – Low wages, poor raises, union based wages, wages not based on incentives, so regardless of how hard you work you will never get a raise or a bonus. There isn't much room for promotions, and full time positions are very limited, and hardly available to the average person.
Wages are much lower than standard rates.... if you work anywhere else you'd be paid much more with better benefits, but I'm not sure how flexible they are with their schedules.
Advice to Senior Management – Offer incentives for hard workers...some of the workers do little to nothing and ride on the backs of the people who care...

Pros – Benefits are nice, flexible hours, capable of climbing the ladder (though it seems to be fairly difficult)
Cons – Management is always under stress, not the same business it used to be, treat employees disrespectfully, only care about customers.
Advice to Senior Management – Learn to stop being a Theory X manager

Pros – Well run operation that provided invaluable experience to supply chain management education.
Cons – Low pay and most of the employees have a bad work ethic.
Advice to Senior Management – Put more emphasis on human resources.

I worked at Stop & Shop part-time for more than a year
Pros – - Flexible scheduling, If you absolutely need to get the time off there is usually a way to make that happen.
- Individual department teams are fairly small and for the most part create that 'family' vibe.
- Depending on location, the customers you encounter are more often than not pleasant.
- Time and a half on Sundays/holidays.
Cons – - Pay is terrible.
- Long term employees looking for advancement into the upper management tree must be willing to wait....a while.
- Full time employees face constant transferring to stores all over the state for weeks or months at a time.
Advice to Senior Management – - If you want employee moral and satisfaction to be high that create that atmosphere where what they do really matters. Realize that the high turnover rate for part time employees is never a good thing and consistent dissatisfaction for full time employees is because of what seems like complete disregard for employe well-doing.

Pros – flexible schedule, guaranteed 15 hours a week
Cons – Union dues, managers are horrible, gets tiring easily, customers are either white trash or just crazy Spanish moms with WIC checks

I worked at Stop & Shop part-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Health care for part timers
Cons – - Management is more worried about employees wearing aprons and name tags than customers. They are constantly coming up with new ideas for the employees to do that just dont make sense and dont seem to help
Advice to Senior Management – Start paying attention more important things other than name badges and what color shirts for each department. Customers are not gonna stop shopping for food because an employee is not wearing his name badge.

Pros – Have improved in communication skills, provide networking opportunities and giving me the flexibility.
Cons – INCONSISTENT HOURS, Not providing equal opportuntnity for advancement to a hard worker like me.
Advice to Senior Management – To provide equal opporuntnity to all,not to the ones on management favortism list only,again to all
