    Great learning experience

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat family culture with team members filled with lots of knowledge willing to help you in anyway they can.

ConsEvery company could use some improvement, there just isn't much room to move up in the company unless someone leaves, but it's a good place to work to get more experience.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

ProsThis was a Financially stable company

ConsNot a sales driven, customer driven organization. All decisions we made based on what will it cost the company.

    Uninspiring but stable

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsSteelcase dealer, so it sells highly-respected products. Management always has best interest of the company in mind; they are not selfishly trying to suck the company dry. Strong values, and they do try to do the right thing.

ConsSenior management has a horrible tin-ear when it comes to motivating and inspiring its workforce. I have heard it said by senior management more than once, "if they don't like it here, they should just get a job elsewhere." They do try to do right by employees through employee appreciation week and fun committees, but they are mostly childish activities. They display a large chip on their shoulder when they are being generous, as if it is a huge burden, and we are ingrates. They think of employees as children. People of color will not be found in leadership, and the token female position is constantly changing. There are no opportunities for advancement. Pay is mediocre.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey need to get people in senior management that think a little differently from them. The most effective senior management I've seen has polar opposites at the top, so that group-think does not set in.

No leadership on the front line...Death by Meetings.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Tampa, FL

ProsFlexible, provide employees with autonomy. Definitely an 8 to 5 culture if that's what you're looking for. Represent reputable product lines that are widely recognized. Employee appreciation events constantly being held. Warehouse and delivery staff on point and reliable. Awesome work environment (you're sitting in the best task chair on the market) which is also a showroom.

ConsLeadership is extremely closed off from staff and are constantly in meetings, but rarely found on the front line where all the work is getting done. Support staff is extremely unhappy, overworked, and underpaid. Talented employees will likely leave to get paid what they're worth once the effects of the fancy office and $1000 ergonomic task chair ware off.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe authentic with your employees...loose the fake smiles and actually get concerned about what's going on in the workplace. Lead your organization and stop yielding to corporate at every turn of the road. You've got really talented and loyal people...invest in them. If you hired a proven sales manager/director and invest in a CRM tool you'll drive more income and afford to pay support staff closer to what they're worth. You sell world class product, but you're far from being a world class dealer.

Friendly, hard-working community of people; disconnected with forward growth and development.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe work space is beautiful, great demonstration of design capabilities of staff. Monthly "fun committee" activities for the staff. Available time off for important issues. Employees rally to help their colleagues in time of need.

ConsLeadership does not do a good job at "grooming" individuals for future advancement and placement within the company. Leadership generally "plays it safe" and does not accept suggestions for improvement openly. There is a communication gap between the leadership team and the employees. Positions feel one-dimensional with a glass ceiling.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a step back from the daily grind to see where the company is headed. Employees are willing and wanting to take on new experiences and challenges; but when a leadership team lacks the ability to see beyond the daily grind and discover untapped potential, promising individuals will want to discover new challenges with another company. Good talent will leave become unhappy and seek out new opportunities.

    Work Culture

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe office environment is beautiful. You are basically your own boss and don't have management looking over your shoulder constantly. Family friendly work place. You and your family have access to their corporate chaplain.

ConsThe cost of medical insurance is high. Compensation is low for the industry. Communication between departments is poor. It's every man for themselves.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement focus on the bottom line is excessive. It is so apparent to employees. It is important, but if you make money priority one your employees and the company culture suffer. Take care of the people and the money will come.... This company will be hurt for years to come even after the economic recovery....

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
