CEO is amazing, really takes the time to get to know and understand you.

    Cons

Too many personalities to try work around. Makes for a very uncomfortable feeling because what's good for one may not be good with another.

    Pros

    - Private company with only a few hundred employees; minimal bureaucracy
    - Quarterly meeting where management presents financial results and firm happenings (unheard of for a private company)
    - Work product is second to none in the valuation space
    - New employees will learn a lot in a short period of time
    - Hours are much better than the Street; travel is rare for junior employees (which IMO is a huge plus)
    - Free coffee and tea

    Cons

    - Hours usually longer than your standard 40-50 hour week
    - Brand recognition isn't particularly strong outside the midwest (Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Organize more team building events on an office-wide basis (e.g. baseball games, happy hours, etc.)
    - Pay above market comp to the best junior employees in order to develop and promote internally

    Pros

Culture, people, opportunity are very strong. Helpful environment. Company focuses on retention of employees. Clear vision and direction.

    Cons

During times of growth and change, expect to work a lot! Increased headcount lags work quantity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember there are 9 offices of employees. While there is management in each office, it would be nice to see those in charge a little more frequently.

    Pros

    Interactive video quarterly meetings
    colleague respect across all departments
    good people
    fun out of work activities
    hard working problem solvers

    Cons

Some in senior management do not believe in "promotion from within"
cliques are formed within senior management making lateral moves difficult
bonuses were given to certain people (within operations) based on family connections
business model is weighted toward client side only i.e. they would go to baseball games, mixers, and dinners without operations group

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dear SRR senior management, To retain your key people try to advance them through the ranks more frequently especially in the operations group. This group works just as hard as client side, but receives less "fun activities", promotions, and bonuses.
