    I worked at Stryker

    Pros

As a whole employees are appreciated and shown that appreciation constantly. There are many big events that really make an employee feel fortunate to be there.

    Cons

Unless you have a degree the likelihood or moving up the ladder is minimal. Vertical moves are typically the only option. They do, however, have a very nice tuition reimbursement program which can assist in getting that degree and consequently expanding career options.

    I worked at Stryker

    Pros

I was an intern over the summer. The internship changed my life. It pushes you and helps you grow. They really care about the internship program and you can set up meetings with anyone in the building, including the president of the division. You are set up with a mentor and manager and given projects to be completed by the end of the internship and presented to a huge boardroom of people. They provide housing and some meal compensations for the summer and it was the best summer of my life.

I have been working at Stryker

    Pros

Most employees are very focused and motivated to achieve their goals due to the great working environment.
Expansion means that there is plenty of scope for career progression.
Quite young and competitive work force.
What we do helps people to live better lives.

    Cons

Sometimes there is a lot of travel required due to Stryker being a global company with divisions spread across the world. This can also be a pro depending on your mindset.

I have been working at Stryker (more than 3 years)

    Pros

At Stryker, your career growth is driven by performance. It is a very rewarding and nurturing place to work. For such a large company, you get a family feel here. It is very work hard/play hard, but also very family orientated. There is no micro-managing, just a "get it done" attitude. Going to work is like hanging out and working hard with my closest friends.

    Cons

Some companies offer more money, but the culture here and growth potential are worth staying for.

    Keep it up!

I have been working at Stryker full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Positive culture, there is not a lot of negativity and dwelling on mistakes. Stryker wants you to learn and grow and provides a great environment to do so. There are no hang ups or negative perceptions to move into different roles/departments as long as you have the talent and are not trying to jump around too frequently. Compensation on par w/ the market as far as I'm concerned. Bonus incentives, commitment to work-life balance and wellness are active programs that are highly encouraged. The work is very rewarding- making healthcare better is something Stryker strives to do and when you are a part of this it is an awesome feeling. Nice work environment, Stryker has great facilities that are comfortable and conducive to helping me be productive. The people are the best, there are a lot of helpful co-workers that care about each other. HR seems to do a great job recruiting people, I really enjoy the diverse group of talented folks that I work with.

    Cons

The quality system is disjointed from division to division despite trying to harmonize to being compliant to corporate requirements. The IT systems are disjointed within each division requiring multiple systems to log into that do not talk to each other... They are simply not integrated so there is redundancy w/ an inherent opportunity for inconsistency. Note that there is a large scale project right now to address this but the infrastructure is such that it will probably take years to fix. Health insurance seems expensive for the value, and this makes me question the weight of it compared to average salaries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep rewarding achievement, and promoting from within. The program for internal mobility is excellent! Keep improving training system to be more efficient. Bolster the project to consolidate and integrate systems, it's the biggest opportunity for improvement. Health insurance should be reviewed and compared with others for value vs price.

I have been working at Stryker full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Salaries are competitive
Good vacation policy - and you will need the break!

    Cons

_ RIDICULOUS amount of office politics - lots of backstabbing in senior management
    - Extremely stressful work environment - be prepared to work and work and work, it's never enough
-Lousy communication and lots of micromanaging
-Human Resources is never on your side - this includes local HR as well as senior level HR in Corporate (which by the way is a joke). They never try to get both sides of any story, nothing remains confidential, and they don't inform you of any issues that are occurring
-They allow too much to be swept under the rug and they don't investigate issues you're having unless you're a manager. If you tell them about a problem or inappropriate situation it falls on deaf ears
-People play games to get to the top and they will throw you under any bus to get ahead
-Tons of lying and talking behind backs
-The environment here is very similar to junior high school, it's gossip gossip gossip - lots of infidelity going on too
-Unprofessional - let managers get away with bad mouthing former employees or people who still work for Stryker but are now in a different department. What kind of company thinks that's okay?
