    I worked at Studley

    Pros

Job was flexible and fun and senior management were easily accessible if needed. Also, work environment was casual and people seemed to enjoy their work.

    Cons

Typical office environment with standard hours. Overall, as an intern there were few downfalls compared to most jobs at that level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep being friendly and cordial towards your employees. I felt comfortable interacting with management and overall was impressed with everything.

I worked at Studley full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Freedom to work on what you want, decent splits, annual/bi-annual company paid trips are fun and help build deep relationships, very strong brand and prestige in certain markets but very little cachet in others. Exposure to large and skyline shaping projects at a young age if you work for the right senior brokers. Ability to make several hundred thousand a year in your 20's if you are good, though you make very little when you start. The company is the best place for people who already know what they are doing and already have a book of business but simply desire keep more of the pie and not be interfered with as much as at larger shops like CBRE, JLL and Cushman.

    Cons

Very little training and support, especially for rookies. Management is typically made up of the highest producers in the company (who also own the company) rather than professional managers trained to lead and inspire a collective unit. Young people are at the complete whim of the team that hires them as corporate has little participation or interest in the process. Commission structure with no base salary is 90% of the company and not for most people. High turnover due to the fact that is easy to hire someone on commission even if they don't work out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a collective vision and make people feel a part of something larger than their own income. Provide support and training to junior brokers to improve client service and reduce turnover.

    Pros

Hands-off approach makes doing one's job easier if they have the capabilities to work alone. Excellent aesthetic around he office makes coming into work a pleasure.

    Cons

Office coherence non-existent. Hard to feel like part of the greater whole. Incentive to do good work the company falls way short of incentive to work for one's self
