I have been working at Sub-Zero & Wolf Appliance full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Not micromanaged and co-workers are easy to get along with.

    Cons

Sometimes hard to get your ideas looked at.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at Sub-Zero & Wolf Appliance full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits, health and Dental

    Cons

Low pay for hourly employees. Not the place it was 10 years ago. Too bad. No vision insurance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit taking pay and benefits from hourly employees and immediately announcing that joe blow has been promoted to VP of some unheard of position.

    Pros

Management is committed to the people and the projects. Not afraid to spend money to get the necessary resources to make projects successful. People are generally in the right positions and have the skills and knowledge to make an impact.

    Cons

Management is fairly well entrenched, there is definitely a ceiling to advancement.

I have been working at Sub-Zero & Wolf Appliance

    Pros

Lots of overtime. Great place to just do your job and become a lost figure.

    Cons

Lots of required overtime. No room for advancement unless you are related to someone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase education awareness...those making $30 per hour and no degree vs $15 per hour with bachelors degree...all based on union bs. Selling 10k units at 500 units per week manufactured, this company can justify taking care of all level employees and not just upper levels. Seniority employees believe they are untouchable but are really Sheeps in wolves disguises...forgive me on the pun. Management is trying to weed out the overpaid for cost savings. I can write an essay but chose to use that for a more prospective occasion.

I have been working at Sub-Zero & Wolf Appliance full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Decent, but grossly overpriced products

    Cons

This company has pursued a dysfunctional, top-heavy management structure whose trademark is baseless arrogance, inefficiency, and cost ineffectiveness, the consequences of which are taken out on the hourly and low-level workers. These arrogant incompetents in upper management believe that the only important employees are the Overpaid, Unskilled Chair-Heaters (O.U.C.H.'s) in the office, and have no regard for the people who make this company function every day. They would rather spend 3-4 times the money for less productivity than admit they are clueless and ask the people who know. Stay away from this company if you intend to build a career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire people according to their skill and abilities, not just because they have a worthless degree, an aloof attitude and zero real world experience. Appoint people to positions who actually know something and possess the capabilities required instead of sticking with only the most dedicated corporate boot lickers and brown-nosers.

    Pros

Great projects to work on. Lots of support from other engineers. I learned a lot during my time there. Lab Techs are very informative and fun to work with. Co-op position was focused on actual engineering projects that were not held back much by paperwork.

    Cons

Discounts only apply to full time workers.

    I worked at Sub-Zero & Wolf Appliance full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

When beginning your career, you'll have an opportunity to get a level of responsibility that you might not find at other companies (especially large organizations). A few senior managers are terrific mentors and you can learn a lot from them.

    Cons

In the long-term, the strict hierarchical structure can become constraining to further professional growth. Look at a position here not as a career path, but rather as a starting point to help gain experience for landing a position at your next company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is not the 1950's -- ties are not a symbol of professionalism, they are a symbol of a firm caught in the past and unable to break free.

I worked at Sub-Zero & Wolf Appliance as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Great work environment. Everyone was there to help each other achieve the common goal. Everyone was also very friendly and willing to help you out.

    Cons

Some departments seemed to lack room for advancement. You either need to be with the company for an extremely long time, or move around from the different departments.

I have been working at Sub-Zero & Wolf Appliance full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to live, some very good talent

    Cons

Management needs to pull their heads out of the wazoo....to many old boys without a frigging clue on how to run a business let alone manage people. I should not be who you know and sleep with but what you bring to the table and can actually do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the ass kissers and trim the fat at the management level.....some of you guys don't have a clue.

    Pros

Great people, great work environment. Very large company, but very good workers. People are friendly but know how to work hard. Great pay and great benifits! Family owned business that cares about people and their families

    Cons

The only con I can think of for Sub-Zero and Wolf is that it is slightly old-school. But I see the company moving to this forward thinking moto, so that is nice.
