I have been working at Subaru of Indiana Automotive full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, take great care of associates.

    Cons

Opportunities for vertical movement are practically non-existent if you are not already a manager. And if you want to be a manager, you must first take a step back from a salaried position to make cars since 99% of mid level management positions involve production. That and the culture is stiff and reflects a 1980s-90s industrial culture, top down, and bureaucratic.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide a way to provide administrative associates with opportunities. All administrative level jobs are dead end positions. You will have difficulty in the near future gaining and retaining millennials, who you will need in order to replace your aging administrative staff.

I have been working at Subaru of Indiana Automotive full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Descent pay, good health insurance

    Cons

Work is back breaking, and getting harder every time that they speed up the line. They want to build more cars to meet demand but have ran out of room. They are hiring more full timers but not enough. So the extra work is put on the employees. They seem to have less and less respect for the work we do all the time. The work is getting out of hand and to go along with it the have scheduled overtime for a year. Only giving one Saturday off a month. They schedule overtime in a way where they dont have to give a final 10 min break. The pay is descent but not enough for how hard we work now. And with inflation its getting worse. You have to spend years here before getting off of second shift. Never mind the 3 years as a "temporary". Which I think should be illegal. The overtime combined with second shift results in never seeing family and makes it difficult to be a hands on father/mother. I am a current employee. I stay because of limited options and the time I have already put into the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give relief to employees with families who do not want to work their whole life away.

I worked at Subaru of Indiana Automotive full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They pay very well here and the people on the production lines are good hardworking folks, lots of perks for people, great facility, very clean, zero landfill, recreation center, playground, wellness center, sports and activities for families, lots of volunteer opportunities

    Cons

Limited opportunities to advance, very political environment, certain managers are very close minded, communication can be improved, life/work balance could improve, benefits used to be great but have gotten worse

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Health benefits aren't a bragging point any longer, help with the work life balance, improve communication. upper managers are not friendly or approachable

    Pros

Clean and organized place to work

    Cons

Unforgiving when it comes to attendance if you are sick your only option is to get fmla and this caused so many problems for people and then it spread throughout the plant and then it was hard to work when a lot of people were gone using fmla

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

add more people to production areas. don't be so hard on group leaders. need sickdays

I have been working at Subaru of Indiana Automotive full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great pay and benefits, a rec center and health clinic available to associates, spouse, and children

    Cons

back breaking body aching work...you will definitely earn every penny you make depending on what area you end up in

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Utilize employees based on their talents. Individuals are sometimes put in areas that hinder them from being utilized to their best ability. Give hourly associates more opportunities for training to be qualified for promotions instead of turning them down based on them lacking those qualifications. If they express and interest and the company expresses a need..why wouldn't training be available?

I have been working at Subaru of Indiana Automotive full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The only good thing from the company is free health benefits (besides paying the deductible) once you managed to become a full time employee (takes up to 3 years to get hired full time, 2 minimum). Also bonuses are given twice a year, however the full time employees get around 10x more of a bonus than the temporaries do even though the amount of work is the same. Stealing. employees

    Cons

Most people don't last 2 years so the health benefits don't really out weigh the hard work.
Team Leaders/Group Leaders are horrible and don't care as long as they get their bonuses.
Company says they are equal opportunity and not racist, which is true in the fact that they deliberately hire blacks and women to work the lines just to avoid lawsuits (the blacks and women could be the worst workers but still keep their job just so the company is leveled out on the race part). The sad part is these workers get away with everything because they know they won't be fired due to their race alone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management are worthless. Let's not mention the fact that every tool and machine in the plant is wired or wireless hooked up to a computer network which the team leader/group leader/AR person in charge can turn off or screw your machines up any time they want. Therefore, if one of them don't personally like you, they will manipulate your tools/machine to make it look like you can't do your job so they can write you up and get you fired. What has this world come to??
