Too much work, too little pay.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Subway

ProsDiscounted food, healthy work environment.

ConsMinimum wage for doing the job of two people.

Advice to Senior ManagementThese people work for you and do what you say. You don't reward your employees enough for one person to hold down the entire store by themselves.

Frustrating

Sandwich Artist (Former Employee)
Altamonte Springs, FL

I worked at Subway part-time for less than a year

ProsThe 50% discount.
The senior level management were extremely kind and interested in the well-being of all the Subway employees.

ConsThe manager was inexperienced, and expected me to be an expert on things that I was taught once, if at all.
I was given very few hours. About 8 people worked at my Subway, and half of us only got scheduled for about 8 hours a week.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep a closer eye on the managers of each restaurant.

– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great oppertunities

Assiant Manager (Current Employee)
Austin, TX

I have been working at Subway full-time for less than a year

ProsThe Advancement opportunities are there if you so choose to persue them. They offer bonuses right of the bat through the subway university.

ConsVery low starting wage and high turn over is because of it.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe consistent on policy's and regulations, don't change them right after you implemented new ones.

Abusing college students at its finest

Sandwich Artist (Former Employee)
State College, PA

I worked at Subway part-time for less than a year

ProsThe people that you usually work with are okay, and the managers aren't too hard on you when you call off.

ConsThere is very little room for growth and promotion, especially when you're only an easily replaceable college student. They pretty much pay you minimum wage, and it takes too long to hit the milestone that gets you a laughable 50 cent raise.

I worked at Subway part-time

ProsGreat first job, pretty easy, learn how to work well with others. Good hours and a great job to have with school.

ConsPay was horrible, raises were 10 cents and extremely hard to get; I only got two raises in the almost 3 years I worked there, each of which were wiped out with minimum wage going up at the end of the year. It's very hard to get promoted.

This job was adequate, all things considered.

Sandwich Artist (Former Employee)
Portland, OR

I worked at Subway part-time for more than 5 years

ProsFor a college student, the flexible schedule and discounted food was perfect.

ConsThere's no room to move up for those whose ambitious supersede business or sandwich making.

Advice to Senior ManagementRemember your employees are not making very much money and deal with cranky customers all day. Do things to keep morale up!

Good company but needs to work on some things.

Sandwich Artist (Current Employee)
Altamonte Springs, FL

I have been working at Subway part-time for more than a year

ProsLearned leadership skills, teamwork skills, and everyday communication skills. Very flexible schedules. Free food.

ConsThe most frustrating thing about this job is working by yourself. In a situation where there should be at least two people scheduled, there's usually only one because management is so obsessed with "productivity". This doesn't just happen every once in a while, it happens everyday. And if you're the one closing, you're gunna be alone. When there's a line wrapped around the store, being by yourself sucks. You're doing ten million things at the same time that you shouldn't have to do by yourself but you have no other choice. Another thing is that it's impossible to get a raise. I've been there for two years and the only reason I've gotten a raise is because minimum wage went up. You can't make a living off of subway.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop worrying about the irrelevant things and instead worry about staffing enough employees. Because you're running your employees out, we work too hard and don't get paid enough for half of what we do.

Alright for a student/college job.

Sandwich Artist (Former Employee)
Orlando, FL

I worked at Subway part-time for less than a year

ProsNice boss, easy work and flexible schedule.

ConsWell obviously the low pay. Getting a lot food made during the rush hours and dealing with rude customers.

Advice to Senior ManagementUpdate the training videos! What I saw might was probably from 10 years ago. Many of the menu items and procedures were obsolete.
